Jeff Probst Wins Emmy Award

The 60th Anniversary Emmy Awards opened with an introduction by Oprah Winfrey, followed by the five reality TV hosts doing a skit about how they had nothing to do. At the end of the skit, Jeff Probst, Ryan Seacrest, and Howie Mandel walked off the stage, leaving Tom Bergeron and Heidi Klum alone. Then, William Shatner joined the two on stage and helped Tom Bergeron pull apart Heidi Klum’s suit (to reveal a skimpier outfit below).
 
Amazing Race won the Emmy for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program for the sixth consecutive time. At this point, it’s virtually become a given that Amazing Race will win every year.
 
The Emmy Award for Outstanding Host For A Reality-Competition Show held a little bit more mystery. Jimmy Kimmel did an opening bit where he recapped feedback from various reality TV judges for the nominees before pausing for a commercial break. After the commercial break, Jimmy Kimmel revealed that Jeff Probst was the winner.
 
Jeff Probst said, “Thank you very much, I will be short, because we’re long, and part of the reason we’re long I know is the five hosts up here tonight. This has been a great experience for all of us, and we really feel honored to be a part of this family. Thank you for letting reality in. To Mark Burnett and Leslie Moonves, thank you, quite honestly for changing my life. Sean Perry, thanks for keeping me on track, and Jimmy Kimmel, you tried, you told us the nothing bit might not work, but we stuck to our guns. And finally to the Survivor family that I work with, year in and year out all over the world, we are a traveling band of gypsies, thank you for making me look good enough to warrant one of these. I share it with you. I don’t know how we’ll divvy it up, but I’m sure the guys in the art department will figure it out. Thanks for having us tonight.”

Do you think Phil was deliberately left out for this award, given that TAR will be winning it?

I don't think that Phil will be winning the emmy for best host even if he's nominated. He's job only involves mere recitations of tasks in which the teams have to complete and normally those were scripted. And he only appears at the last ten minutes of the show and he barely has onscreen interactions with the contestants, as compared to the other hosts, which for eg like Jeff, he has to give a play by play commentary when the challenges commence and has to lead the survivors to talk at tribal council. Yup
