CHENGDU, China, June 15 (Xinhua) -- China's U-19 soccer team managed to draw 0-0 with the Czech Republic in the Panda Cup youth tournament here on Wednesday.

The Czechs launched waves of attacks in the first-half but were not able to materialize. China stepped up its pace after the interval and created several chances, which drew constant applause from the spectators.

"I think we effectively lost two points. We squandered several good chances because some of us run out of energy as the match dragged on," Czech head coach Martin Svedik said after the match.

His Chinese counterpart, Li Ming, seemed delighted about his team's performance. "We made adjustment after the first half and began to gain more control of the game after some substitutes joined the fray," said Li.

Earlier in the day, Japan's U-19 team crushed Croatia 5-0 in the opener of the four-team tournament. Enditem

UNITED NATIONS Mens Air Jordan 13 Wheat For Sale , Feb. 9 (Xinhua) -- A new UN report launched here Tuesday which calls for a new Agenda for the first-ever World Humanitarian Summit received wholehearted support from member states, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon said here.

He told UN member states that the summit with the theme of "One Humanity: Shared responsibility" will provide an opportunity for "concrete steps towards ending the suffering experienced by billions of people today."

"We need to show the millions of people living in conflict -- with chronic needs and constant fear -- the solidarity that they deserve and expect," the secretary-general said at the launch of his report.

The summit is scheduled for May 23-24 in Istanbul, Turkey.

"The urgency of these challenges and the scale of the suffering mean we must accept our shared responsibilities and act decisively, with compassion and resolve," Ban said.

Specifically, the report urged leaders to assume their responsibility to prevent and end conflict, called on member states to affirm their responsibility to uphold the norms that safeguard humanity, and appealed to states to leave no one behind and reach those who are furthest behind.

It also underscored the responsibility to change people's lives by moving from delivering aid to ending need, and called for investment in humanity, including enhancing local capacities, reducing risk and building effective and inclusive institutions, especially in fragile contexts.

Also speaking at the briefing on Tuesday, UN General Assembly President Mogens Lykketoft urged member states to "get behind the secretary-general's vision" to deliver real commitments.

UN Emergency Relief Coordinator Stephen O'Brien talked about the importance of the summit.

"At its core, his report is an urgent plea to political and other leaders to summon the courage to reverse the current slide -- a slide that is undermining everything this Organization stands for; everything that we as fathers, mothers, sisters and brothers should care for," Lykketoft said.

"It is a desperate plea to reassert the basic codes and norms that collectively, we agreed to abide by, to protect the world's most vulnerable people -- international humanitarian law; international human rights law and international refugee law," he added.

Noting that efforts thus far have been "far from adequate," Lykketoft also stressed that the situation facing some 60 million displaced people and some 125 million people in need of humanitarian assistance continues to demand urgent attention.

"Istanbul is our first major opportunity since the 2030 Agenda was agreed to give true meaning to the principle of leaving no one behind and to devise more credible, equitable and sustainable responses to global humanitarian crises," he said.

The report received support from a wide range of countries, including the 134 UN member states represented by the Group of 77 plus China, at a plenary session of the UN General Assembly.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Thailand's representative to the UN said that developing countries supported the report."The Group of 77 and China support the secretary-general's efforts," he said. "This is a very important issue for developing countries."

The report's recommendations will be considered by UN member states at the summit.

Turkey's representative to the UN called for UN members to show their full support by sending the highest level of representation to the summit.

"We call on all member states to support this event and invite them to participate in this event at the level of heads of state and government," he said.

The Nordic group of countries -- traditionally large aid donors -- also welcomed the report, including its recommendations to reform humanitarian funding.

"The cooperation between donors and implementing agencies must be more efficient and transparent with harmonised reporting requirement as well as multi-year and flexible support," said Norway's ambassador to the UN, May-Elin Stener, speaking on behalf of the Nordic group of countries.

The report responded to significant changes in humanitarian need, as conflicts rage for longer, and climate change worsens natural disasters.

"Humanitarian aid organizations created to offer urgent life-saving assistance (are) increasingly tied down providing services year after year to people who may never go home," the report said.

The report also stated that the focus on emergencies has meant that less resources and attention have been paid to the equally important tasks of prevention and preparedness.

"National and international actors continue to focus their financial and human resources on costly crisis response and post-conflict interventions, rather than increasing preparedness and reducing vulnerability," the report said.

Meanwhile, the report also addressed several other problems affecting the humanitarian system, including the erosion of humanitaria.
