In the world of sneakers, a few styles last. What they do are the real classics: the trends that are classified as raw materials. They are constantly worn by both footwear enthusiasts and the general public. For Nike, shoes that sell units that shareholders like tend to be white leather shoes like the Air Monarch line, dad's Adidas NMD Femme friend, the ones that cool children and the connoisseurs hate. A rare example of these sneakers intersecting in both worlds is the Nike Air Force 1 in its most popular and iconic style: low-cut, all-white.
The Nike Air Presto Damen White Air Force 1 Low is one of the best-selling shoes of all time. About ten years ago, sports analyst Matt Powell told the New York Times that the shoe sold about 12 million pairs in 2005 alone, more than two decades after its debut; the sneaker is still the second bestseller of Nike a decade later, according to Powell. Enlightened collaborations and limited-collection collectibles may have given the AF1 a level of captivating prestige and helped spread its gospel to new generations, but the monotonous tricks, especially white on white, were the ones to keep the lights on in most sneakers over the years.
