LONDON -- Tottenham, Fiorentina and Red Bull Salzburg made it four group wins out of four in the Europa League on Thursday to qualify for the knockout phase with two games to spare. Record-signing Erik Lamela scored his first Tottenham goal before winning the penalty that Jermain Defoe converted to clinch a 2-1 victory over Sheriff Tiraspol in Group K. In Romania, Fiorentina won by the same score at Pandurii Targu Jiu after Matos Ryder and Borja Valero scored for the Group E leader, while second-place Dnipro of Ukraine advanced by beating Pacos Ferreira 2-0. Two teams are also through already from Group C, with leader Red Bull Salzburg winning 3-1 at Standard Liege and Esbjerg edging Elfsborg 1-0. Valencia went to the top of Group A with a 3-2 win over St. Gallen, and will advance to the last 32 along with Russian side Rubin Kazan, Dnipro of Ukraine, and Ludogorets of Bulgaria. At White Hart Lane, Lamela finally made his mark more than two months after joining from Roma for up to 35 million euros ($47 million). The 21-year-old Lamela has been used sparingly by Andre Villas-Boas and is yet to start an English Premier League game for Spurs but he showed his attacking prowess against the Moldovan champions. Lamela knocked home the opener from close range on the hour before being tripped shortly afterwards in the penalty area, Defoe scored from the penalty spot in the 67th. Although Ismail Isa struck a late consolation, there was no comeback to deny Tottenham a fourth straight Group K win. "Lamela was unbelievable tonight, good on the ball, strong," Defoe said. "Sometimes it is difficult coming to a new club at such a young age." Tottenham will have to wait to confirm its status as group winner after second-placed Anzhi Makhachkala beat Tromso 1-0 in Norway. In Group A, late goals from Pablo Piatti and Sergio Canales helped Valencia come from behind to beat 10-man St. Gallen 3-2 in Switzerland and replace Swansea as leader after the Welsh side drew at Kuban Krasnodar. Bulgarians Ludogorets lost its 100 per cent record and conceded its first goal in Group B, but a 1-1 home draw with Chornomorets was enough for it to qualify. Second-placed PSV Eindhoven closed the gap at the top to three points with a 2-0 home win over Dinamo Zagreb. Rubin Kazan has all but done enough in Group D after beating English second-tier side Wigan 1-0 in Russia to go five points clear. Belgian side Zulte-Waregem gave itself hope of snatching second place with a 1-0 win over Maribor in Slovenia. In Group F, leader Eintracht Frankfurt surprisingly lost 4-2 in Israel to Maccabi Tel Aviv, which is two points behind in second. APOEL Nicosia moved off the bottom with a 2-1 win over Bordeaux. Trabzonspor all but booked its passage from Group J by winning 2-0 win at bottom-placed Legia Warsaw. Lazio remain hot on the leaders heels after a 2-1 win over Apollon in Rome. In Group I, Chuli scored in stoppage time for Real Betis to clinch a 1-0 victory over Vitoria Guimaraes in Portugal, lifting the Spanish side to top spot as former leader Lyon was held to 1-1 at Rijeka. Betis city rival Sevilla continued to edge towards qualification from Group H after a 1-1 home draw against Slovan Liberec. Also in Group H, Freiburgs Karim Guede and Nicolas Hofler were sent off in the final four minutes but the team managed to hang on for 0-0 with Estoril in Portugal. Dynamo Kyiv also shrugged off a numerical disadvantage as an own goal from Lukas Schenkel and a free kick from Andriy Yarmolenko clinched a 2-0 victory at Thun in Group G, despite the 17th-minute dismissal of Dieumerci Mbokani. Genks lead in the group was cut to a single point after a 2-2 draw at Rapid Vienna. AZ Alkmaar went top of Group L with a 1-0 win over Shakhter Karagandy, replacing PAOK, which drew 0-0 with Maccabi Haifa. Martin Havlat .500 mark at 21-21. Thats not overwhelming, but its still four games better than they were a year ago when they were sitting at 17-25 through May 17. Clark Griswold Blackhawks Jersey . Turns out, the alternative wasnt any fun for Malone, either. The year was 1994, and Calvillo was a rookie starter for the Las Vegas Posse, playing against Saskatchewan in the first home game of what would be the Posses one and only season in the Canadian Football League. Stan Mikita . 2 Ohio State to a 64-35 drubbing of Texas-Pan American on Saturday. Buckeyes sophomore forward Jared Sullinger missed the game with back spasms, but that didnt stop Ohio State (8-0), as Deshaun Thomas dropped 11 points to go with five rebounds, while Scott Shannon and Jordan Sibert contributed seven points apiece.MINNEAPOLIS -- Kevin Love worked all summer long to put an injury plagued season behind him and reclaim his spot as the best power forward in the league. LaMarcus Aldridge of the Portland Trail Blazers is one of the players standing in his way. In their first head-to-head matchup of the season, Love pounced on a road-weary Aldridge and grabbed Round 1. Love had 29 points, 15 rebounds and nine assists to outshine Aldridge in the Minnesota Timberwolves 120-109 victory over Portland on Wednesday night. "Awesome," Wolves point guard Ricky Rubio said. "Theres no words to describe. Hes doing a great job leading this team in scoring, rebounding, even assisting. Hes taking my job." Nikola Pekovic had 30 points and nine rebounds and Kevin Martin scored 22 for the Timberwolves, who led by 32 in the second quarter and held off a charge in the second half from the Blazers. Damian Lillard had 36 points, six assists and six rebounds and Aldridge had 15 points and 14 boards for the weary Trail Blazers, who lost for the first time in six games. It was just their fifth loss of the season in 27 games and came at the end of a four-game road trip. The Timberwolves outscored Portland 72-34 in the paint and shot 49.5 per cent from the field. Aldridge, one of the early leaders in the MVP race thanks to Portlands remarkable start, made just 7 of 22 shots. "Just one of those nights," Aldridge said. "I couldnt throw a rock in a lake if I tried to, even if I was standing in the water." The Blazers have been the most surprising team of this young season, and they stormed into Target Center fresh off two straight heart-pounding victories on last-second shots by Lillard that gave them the best record in the NBA. But playing their fourth road game in five nights, their legs were heavy, their shots where shaky and the Wolves pounced. Love owned the first 24 minutes. He had a double-double before the game was 13 minutes old and went into halftime with 17 points, 11 boards and eight assists. The Wolves rode a staggering 42-12 run through the second quarter to take a 62-30 leead five minutes before the break.dddddddddddd He started fast breaks, he hit deep 3s and he went to the floor for loose balls, setting the tone and building a cushion that they sorely needed as the game wore on. But he still ended up one assist shy of his first career triple-double. "I did think I was looking at it right in the face tonight, but it didnt happen for me," Love said. "Guys kept saying just get one more. I just said lets get a ... win. How about that? Im way more happy with that more than anything." Portland coach Terry Stotts said he considered pulling the plug after the third and resting his starters. But these are the Blazers, who shoot 3s without conscience and play with a swagger generated by their cold-blooded point guard. And theyre never out of a game. Lillard scored 17 points in the third, and his step-back 3 brought Portland to 86-75 with 2:04 to play in the quarter. "Two things, one is you dont know when to pull a plug on a game like this, and two with our team, with our ability to shoot, you just dont know," Stotts said. Martin, who missed Monday nights game in Boston with a sore left knee, responded with a 3 and J.J. Barea hit two big 3s in the closing seconds of the quarter to push the lead back to 22. Lillard hit two 3s and Nicolas Batum, who scored 20 points, scored on a putback and a 3-pointer to cut the deficit to five with 46 seconds to play, but the Wolves closed it out at the free-throw line. "You know last year, that probably wouldve been a game where we just said all right were going to give it a shot in the third quarter and in the fourth quarter we probably wouldve ended up laying down," Lillard said. "But we fought back, and I think with a minute and a half it was a game." NOTES: The Wolves announced that F Chase Budinger has been cleared for full-contact practice. Budinger has yet to play this year after having surgery to remove part of the meniscus in his left knee. ... It was the third career 30-point game for Pekovic. ... Lillard went 7 for 14 from 3, while the rest of the team went 7 for 26. cheap jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys ' ' '
