CALGARY - A Calgary man got way more than he bargained for when he bought a used suitcase at an auction, got it home and opened it up. Inside it, he found what turned out to be about $300,000 worth of drugs. Police seized the bag and its contents on Friday, making what could be the largest crack cocaine seizure in the city's history. "This seizure is one of the more significant ones we've made," Staff-Sgt. Roger Chaffin of the Drug Unit said in a news release. "It is indicative of the size of the shipments coming into our city, and the demand for this dangerous and highly addictive drug." The black, nondescript luggage, purchased for 50 cents, contained nearly four kilograms of crack cocaine, and another kilogram of cocaine powder. Police say the drugs have a street value The unsuspecting buyer actually thought it was soap, police said, and tried to dissolve some of it in water. The crack cocaine rocks look like soap or maple fudge, police said, and smell like soap or shoe polish. from http://cbc.ca/stories/2002/08/17/coke_case020817 if you want to read the rest of the story.
