The nearest registered pedafile lives 4 blocks from my house.  How close are they to you?
 
Do a search on google for Registered Sex Offenders and your state and/or city and you should find the online list.  Most states have "passive" notification, where they don't tell you if someone like that moves into your neighborhood, you have to ask.
