Gates picks up $100m AIDS tab in India

Microsoft chief Bill Gates Monday pledged $100 million from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to fight AIDS in India.  
 
"There is no doubt that India faces a serious (AIDS) challenge," Gates said on the first day of his four-day visit to India.  
 
"We do not really know the number of HIV/AIDS victims in India but the sooner we bring attention to the problem and greater visibility, the better we can face it," he said.  
 
Gates said that much needs to be done in India to contain the spread of AIDS adding, "India is poised to be a global leader in the development of new HIV prevention technologies."

Now don't get me wrong, I think it's wonderful that Daddy Bill can plunk down 100 mil on whatever he wants to, it's his money . . . . . . but it sure would be nice if he decided to help the poor, sick people in North America first before he sent it all overseas.  I mean, I would venture to say that he has sold more software and operating systems here in North America than he has in India!!  Don't we have enough diseases and afflictions?  Don't we have enough poor, uninsured dying folks here without Melinda having to go half way around the worldHuh!?  Don't we have medical researchers, already hard at work trying to cure AIDS, Cancer, MS, MD, and God knows how many other cruel diseases that take away so many good people before their time??  Don't they need research money??  I mean, think about it . . . . wouldn't it be something if someday it could be said:  "Thanks to Bill & Melinda Gates, Cancer has been eradicated from the face of the earth"!!!!!!!  
. . . . . .But hey, it's his money, if he wants to pour money into India, he can do what he wants.  Let's just say I'm just not as proud as I was last week that I was able to do my small part to contribute to make him what he is today!  . . . Windows98 here.   :computer:
