Quebec Elections (formerly u?)

The Liberals have surged ahead of the Parti Québécois in recent polls, even closing the gap among francophones.

Please note that the Parti Quebecois is a separatist party and they have been in power since 1979 I believe.  It's a big deal that the liberals may win this election today.  At least it is to me as I never want Quebec to separate and I want our country to always be bilingual.

If they win this election, how probable is it that Quebec will separate from the rest of Canada?

the liberals took a majority.  The issue of separatism will never go away but this means that at least the government in power is not a separatist government.  It is a federalist government - and there will be no referendums for the next few years.  Thank goodness.

I love quebe, I love bilingualism and I would never want quebec to separate from Canada.  I am all for preserving the french culture there.  I am relieved that we can now be back on an even keel without discussions of separation  all the time.

There is a federal government party though also - the Bloc Quebecois and they have a separatist mandate so it is always going to be there as an undercurrent.

It is probably good to always have the discussion becuase preserving the french culture is not easy with so much anglophony.
