Hospital Covers Image of Virgin Mary
Mon Jun 23, 9:35 AM ET  Add Oddly Enough - Reuters to My Yahoo!

BOSTON (Reuters) - Faced with a rush of pilgrims, a Massachusetts hospital on Thursday said it would cover a shimmering image of the Virgin Mary in the window of an office building for most of the day to avoid further disruption.

On Wednesday evening hospital staffers lowered a weighted tarp from the roof over the window where believers say the mother of Jesus Christ gazes down on them. The image was first seen last week.

"We asked people to visit the window only between 5:30 and 8:30 in the evening so that the crowds won't interfere with hospital activities. But that wasn't working and so we made the decision to uncover the window only during those hours," said Susan Schepici, a spokeswoman at Milton Hospital.

Still people are flocking to the community hospital at all hours, Schepici said, counting about 30 people staring at the covered window this morning.

"It doesn't seem to matter if it is covered or not. We have had a steady stream of between 50 and 100 people during the last few days and the crowd grows to about 200 at night. People bring flashlights to see the image," she said.

The Boston Globe reported on Tuesday that hospital officials say the image is made by a chemical deposit inside the window, but Schepici said the hospital has "no official position with respect to the issue of an apparition."

Last weekend after the image was first discovered, roughly 25,000 visited the hospital, 10 miles south of Boston and hospital staffers expected another flood of visitors this weekend.

30 people are looking at the covered window?

I did not seen any pictures but I would be surprised if the hospital had created this hoax.  Any ideas what it is formed from or made by?

That is of course what the officials are saying.

I will look to see if there is a picture on the net of it. I saw it on a Boston tv station over the weekend and it was just incredible.

As for the hospital doing it, I doubt it. It has really interrupted their daily activities. The amount of people who have been visiting is much more than 30. But the hospital asked them to limit the visits except during certain times and some people are respectable enough to honor that request. Others as normal are not. Let me go see what else I can find.

The following is not intended to offend those who believe in apparitions or such images.

Thanks for the sites Dar.

I couldn't make out much of nuttin' in the second one.  The first photo is much better but - who knows what Mary looked like?  In that image made by failed gasses sandwiched between glass - we see a faint likeness of the man-made "version" of her.

Here in my home, I have a mirror and everytime I've photographed and it appears in the photo, it shows double crosses.  We've all stared at beautiful clouds and seen all kinds of figures and faces.

Remember that horrible image of the face of "Satan" in a cloud of smoke coming from one of the burning buildings on 9/11?  We don't really know what the face of Satan looks like either.

I would say that all of these things that happen are purely coincidental.  I don't need icons to remind me of my Lord.  Apparently, the 30 or so who stare up at a covered window do.  But that's just my two cents.   Wink

I just thought it was cool and the feelings here are that it is appearing to help with the horrible situation we are having with all the Catholic Priests with the sexual abuse of kids.

The picture on the web pages is not too clear. I couldn't type that when I sent it cause Gregg returned from to the office just as I found the second site and I had to hurry up and send and get back to work...LOL. The news showed the image much cleared IMHO and it was very strikingly like what we perceive the Virgin Mary to look like

Whether one chooses to believe it or not is each person's choice. However, I do believe that my dad saved me in his arms in my car accident and I do believe that my Grandmother came to say goodbye to me in the body of a moose. Those are my beliefs and I have asked my mom to do the same in a special way. I guess it is what helps our  soul feel at peace.

Good points DARN but I might add (with respect inteneded) that those who state we are Catholic,Christain,Jewish,Muslum etc  are Stateing religions which we all too often confuse with FAITH! Whatever some Priest or Muslums etc do weather in the name of faith or not  their beliefs belong to a RELIGION which is NOT Faith. Faith comes from your belief (whatever it is) in an omnipotent spirt, force etc. Those who saw The Virgin Mother clearly feel the need (and its ok by me) to find something tangiable to hold on to their Faith. I am comfortable with my God and my concept of God I am also ok with those who need this vision although I dont share it their belief this is The Virgin Mother! God bless all who bleive and those who dont. This is one of those thiings that hurts no one so lets let them have it regardless of what we beleive because in the LONG run none of really know!!!!!

Why not?  Where there's "hope" there's a "will" and where there's a "will" there's a "way" - eh?  :laff:
