LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - In California, voters are waiting apathetically for "Jingle All the Way" star Arnold Schwarzenegger to stop hedging about his gubernatorial candidacy. Similar heightened disinterest is greeting "Ringmaster" star Jerry Springer as he tests the waters for a possible Ohio senatorial campaign. While the "Junior" star continues to delay making a commitment, the "Jerry Springer: Too Hot for TV!" star took a major step forward on Friday, filing his candidacy papers with the secretary of the Senate in Washington.
According to the AP, Springer's decision to file papers in no way requires the talk show host to run for office. It does, however legalize the half-hour fund raising video Springer has been running on his website and in several cities.  
 
Springer was elected to the Cincinnati city council at the age of 27, but his aspirations were temporarily derailed by a prostitution scandal (he paid for one using a personal check). That only kept him down briefly as he became the city's mayor and later a trusted news anchor. Greater success ultimate came as a talk show host and later as an opera on the London stage.  
 
Despite his website's attempt to position Springer as a populist alternative in the mold of a more liberal Jesse Ventura, recent polls out of Ohio show minimal interest in his candidacy.
