Can we talk about something happy today.....

Wink   Cool Today I woke UP!  This is what makes me happy, my husband and I  woke up happy and healthy again today and feel very blessed.

We went to church and that is happy, heard happy songs, heard a happy upbeat message from our pastor of 33 years.  Sat with friends we've known all our life.   This is happy!

At 7:30 AM, we started our Sunday morning listening and watching Joel Osteem, who comes on the Foxx Channel.  If any of you can get this channel or find him somewhere else, you will be very blessed.  Talk about happy,  upbeat and positive.  This man is a joy to hear!

Today is a happy day and we look forward to tomorrow!

Have any of you ever thought about owning a Happy Newspaper?  I have!  I've also thought that there wouldn't be much in it, as there is never much happy news in the paper or on tv.

At this time, the people on the Coast of Texas aren't too happy with Claudette breathing down on them.

Come on folks, share something happy about yourself here.

I like this idea!! Thanks!

Okay..here I go..I am happy to have a good paying full time  job and a nice part time job that allows me to take my summers off so I only work full time for those 3 months. I am happy that I have 3 great kids that live next to me who always make me smile everytime I see them. I am happy that I have a dear 64 year old neighbor who treats me like her daughter and takes good care of me and keeps me laughing all the time. I am happy that I live so close to Mom that I can drive up there almost every weekend. I am happy that we are going to see Vince Gill this Thursday for the second year in  a row. I am happy that my car hasn't been hit lately.  Wink
I am also happy that my furkids miss me and even though they hate to admit it..I can tell cause I was greeted last nite by Jeff in the window and he was using his pathetic meow to ask me where I was all weekend.  One more thing, I am happy that I am taking my vacation late August to go to Florida. I can't wait to bring Mom to Florida and I can't wait to see my favorite Aunt from my dad's side.

NEXT??

This thread brought to my mind some of the talks Daddy and I used to have on the back patio, of the "house on the hill:.....

Me:  Daddy - who you talkin' to?  (Daddy talked to himself - a lot)

Daddy:  Oh, I was just telling the Lord - how SWEEEET it is....

Me:  How's that, Daddy?

Daddy:  Just look at all this...  (His arms widespread - looking at the property and beyond.)

Me:  Yeah, we have a lot to be thankful for....

Daddy:  What are YOU thankful for?

Me:  Oh, well - for starters - that I can sleep in a bed and rise up in the morning - on my own.

Daddy:  What else?

Me:  Ok, then - I can walk from the bed - on my own - and go pee by myself.

Daddy:  That's weird.  Why would you think of something like that?

Me:  Because I know there are lots of people that can't do the simplest things that we take for granted.

Daddy:  Yeah - like drinking coffee and cooking my oatmeal while I'm cleaning my teeth.

Me:  See?  That's what I mean - being able to eat without being fed, or having a feeding tube....

Daddy:  How sweeeeeeet it is......

We had many, many of this conversations.  I think back on them and cherish the memories.

Wings, you have touched me this morning like nothing has in the past 6 months.  I'm sitting here bawling like a baby.  Thank you.  Your recolections of your conversations with your father made me realize that even though my father is very frail now, I do still have him.  I can still talk to him and reminisce with him.  I'm ashamed to say that for the past few months, I have been feeling a bit resentful because of all the time my parents are taking out of my life.  After reading your post I am just thankful that I still have them.

So, back to the thread........................I am happy to be 56 years old and still have both of my parents living.  I am very happy to have my 5 month old granddaughter healthy and beautiful.  I am happy that I have a wonderful husband and that we will be celebrating our 38th wedding anniversary this week.  I am happy that our house suffered no damage in the recent flood that hit our area.  And, last but certainly not least, I'm happy I found this place and that it is filled with great people like Sharon.

Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool

WAY TO GO YA'LL!  THIS JUST ABOUT MAKES ME STARTING CRYING BUCKETS AND I STARTED THIS THREAD YESTERDAY ON A LARK, SINCE WE HAVE SO MANY SAD THINGS IN OUR DAILY LIVES, NOT TO FORGET THE NEWS ADDING TO IT!

WINGS, I ALSO HAVE MANY GREAT MEMORIES OF MY DAD AND HOW HE ALWAYS CAME HOME AND KISSED ME ON THE FOREHEAD AND CALLED ME "MUG", THEN TOLD ME I HAD THE PRETTIEST LITTLE MUG HE HAD EVER SEEN!  HE WAS A GREAT CHRISTIAN MAN AND I'M SO HAPPY AND BLESSED THAT I HAD A GOOD CHRISTIAN DAD.

WE NOW HAVE MY MOM WITH US AND I'M SO HAPPY THAT IT IS WORKING OUT AND WE ARE HAPPY WITH THIS ARRANGEMENT.  I CAN TELL YOU FOR SURE, AT FIRST I HAD SOME SCARY MOMENTS.  MY MOM AND I HAVE BEEN AT ODDS SO MUCH OF MY LIFE AND I SO WANTED TO HAVE SOME HAPPY TIMES LIKE WE USED TO BEFORE I DIDN'T HAVE HER ANY LONGER.

THIS IS A HAPPY TIME FOR US AND OUR LITTLE FAMILY.

KEEP POSTING HAPPY THOUGHT AND TIMES AND CURRENTS EVENTS.  READING THE REPLIES THIS MORNING GAVE ME A HAPPY START TO THE DAY!   Tongue Tongue Tongue

Darlin' V!  Oh - but of course you would remember all that stuff and about Daddy and Mommy Dearest - back when.

I used to have feelings of resentment about what I had to do too.  Being an only child - there was no one to help them out.  But just know and realize this IL, feelings resentment is perfectly normal.  And you're one of the most "normal" woman I know.

It's kind of off, ya know?  We're taken care of and raised by our parents, we grow up and have families of our own.  Then our kids have their own lives and we breathe sort of a sigh of relief.  Then bam!  Most of us find ourselves where you are now.

Hang in there IL!  Learn all you can about your Dad and Mom (which I'm sure you do) so you can pass the memories of who they were to your grandbabies, and so on.  I have many video tapes specially designed for them to talk about themselves and we went back to several of their old home sites too.

Kiss to IL!  Added to say if I can touch you in such a way to make you cry - just know I bawled my eyes out reading your post.  I am so humbled and greatful to call you friend.

LOL, taking care of aging parents or a parent is not what we had planned for our retirement.  One does what is the right thing to do!

IL, you won't resent having more time with your parents, I sure don't resent taking care of my Mother and I really thought I would in the past.  I'm happy that we're healthy enough to do for her as she has done for me and my little family all these years.  It's time she is waited on for a while.

In fact, we ae finding she is more fun to have in our home than we ever dreamed and her sense of humor is a joy.  When that and her appetite goes, then we will know the time is near.

Happy today is when we received our son's new CD in the mail and played it!  WOW!  Every song on it is extremely good.  Guess that is why he titled it  "EXTREMELY COUNTRY".  Anyway, he has a winner here and the sales are going great on this new CD.

Live,  Laugh & Love.................!
