Two Students Shot at Minnesota School

COLD SPRING, Minn. — Two students were shot Wednesday at a central Minnesota high school and another student was in custody, authorities said.
The injured Rocori High School (search) students, both boys, were taken to St. Cloud Hospital, school board member Tom Schroeder said.
Schroeder confirmed the shootings and the apprehension of a suspect but said he had no information on the identities, or on the extent of the students' injuries.
Stearns County Sheriff John Sanner said the suspect is a freshman and that the wounded boys are a freshman and a senior.
Mike Austreng, the editor of the weekly Cold Spring Record (search), said he saw one wounded person airlifted from the school and another taken away by ambulance.
"We can see groups of students being taken out of the building," Austreng said from the scene. "Most of them are running with their hands up in the air, or walking with their hands up in the air. They're being ushered away toward the elementary school."
Authorities were summoned to the school about 11:40 a.m.
Cold Spring is about 60 miles northwest of Minneapolis-St. Paul (search). The school district's name, Rocori, comes from the first two letters of the communities it serves: Rockville, Cold Spring and Richmond.
The district enrolls nearly 2,700 students in elementary, middle and high schools. District officials said students would be sent home early.
