'SNL' Joke Prompts Flood of Calls to Kobe Bryant's Lawyer

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - The office of NBA star Kobe Bryant's defense attorney has been overwhelmed by phone calls after a bit on "Saturday Night Live" repeated her name several times.
 
A receptionist at lawyer Pamela Mackey's firm tells the Denver Post that the firm received a number of calls Monday (Oct. 13) following the "Weekend Update" segment of "SNL" Saturday.  
 
In the segment, co-anchor Tina Fey noted that at a preliminary hearing in the sexual-assault case against Bryant last week, Mackey uttered the name of Bryant's 19-year-old accuser in court. The judge admonished Mackey, but she used the accuser's name several more times during the hearing.
 
Fey then added: "[That's] really bad, 'cause what lawyer Pamela Mackey did by mentioning the woman's name, is to put her at risk of further harassment. A lawyer like Pamela Mackey of the Colorado firm Haddon, Morgan, Mueller, Jordan, Mackey and Foreman -- which is probably in the 303 area code -- should know that people can look up a name, like Joe Smith or Pamela Mackey, on the Internet and learn everything about them."
 
Mackey's firm isn't commenting. NBC spokesman Marc Leipis says the joke "speaks for itself" but offers no other comment.
 
Bryant's preliminary hearing is scheduled to continue Wednesday.

i saw the clip replayed on some entertainment news show.  it was priceless.  very well done.  i was sickened that kobe's lawyer, a female, would put another female at risk like that just to promote her own case.
