Man Traumatized by employees

On a news story i saw last night, a 16 year old boy that 2 and a half years ago was traumatised by 15 employees at the joinery where he worked. he has had post traumatic stress syndrome ever since the employees called him up to the top floor they strapped him to a table with glad wrap after binding his hands, and even know the kid has asthma they put sawdust and glue down his throat, and when he was having an asthma attack the men washed out his mouth with  a high powered fire hose. They only stopped when 2 of business directors came in. The business was fined $25,000 for breach of Workplace and Health laws, the business directors were fined $1000 each, while only ONE offeneder was fined a PITTFUL AMOUNT OF JUST $500, 9 of them got away with it and the 5 others just got a good behaviour bond for a couple of months. :steamed: :furious: :steamed:

i hate bullies. I got hazed and picked on quite a bit.  During Columbine, I had a hard time sorting my feelings because I was bitter about the past.  I had a hard time condemning the two guys for finally reacting, but I couldn't condone them for the type of action they took.

Bullies suck...  I pray everytime I have a chance that my nephews and nieces will not be bullies or be bullied upon.

I hope this kid gets therapy because he will NEED it after an incident like that in order to be able to move on and have a normal life afterward.

That's not an uncommon amount of time to be in therapy for serious issues.  However for Post Traumatic Stress I recommend EMDR.  It was originally developed for Vietnam Vets and they found that most people respond really well to it and that some people who had been in therapy for years were cured of their PTS in just a few sessions.  I can't imagine getting any other kind of therapy for a traumatizing event.

Some people with PTSD end up in therapy for the rest of their lives, some things you just can't get past.....

(whispering to Rhune) What's EMDR?

(in a normal voice) Those men should have been jailed. Isn't there a law on violence against minors?  Angry

Luckily, I was never a victim of bullying (I think).... oh, wait, I was, but they didn't physically hurt me, they just called me names... (sniff sniff)... now I think of it, I thought they're silly, them being 12 years old and me being 8 or 9. Should have told them to bully someone their own size, I bet they can't.

I love psychology.  Cheesy

I was raised by a psychologist and worked with abused children for a couple of years...it's hard for me not to live breathe and talk it.

Wow! That's so cool!  Cool

I saw a psychology book once, skimmed it, and wanted to buy it! Unfortunately, 1. I don't have money that day, 2. What would my parents think of me?! (I'm a web developer) They're thinking I'm a bit crazy for being hooked on books (fiction mostly), but academic books? They might send me to an asylum.

Back to the topic: I read/heard (not sure which) somewhere that the reason why bullies are bullying is that they themselves are afraid of being bullied/outcasted (?)/hurt by others. Or was bully not the word? Hmmm, anyways, they have the same sense, I think. Sad

That's a part of it, or perhaps how it starts out, but I think bullying has more to do with power...Control is just one form of abuse.
