J-Lo dances down aisle
Sunday, June 6, 2004 Posted: 2:53 AM EDT (0653 GMT)

Jennifer Lopez

LOS ANGELES, California (Reuters) -- Actress-singer Jennifer Lopez has married her current boyfriend, salsa singer Marc Anthony, barely five months after breaking her much-publicized engagement to actor Ben Affleck, Us Weekly reported Saturday.

The magazine said Lopez, 33, married Latin music star Anthony, 34, at her home in Los Angeles Saturday in front of about 40 guests. Us Weekly said it had pictures of a giant tent assembled on the estate and of guests coming and going among tables covered in white table cloths and flower centerpieces.

"It was a lovely low-key intimate affair for the closest friends and family, " Us reported a friend as saying.

"She didn't hardly tell anyone. Everyone was surprised," another unidentified friend told the magazine.

Representatives for Lopez and Anthony could not immediately be reached for comment.

The reported marriage comes less than a week after Anthony was granted a quickie divorce in the Dominican Republic from his wife of four years, Dayanara Torres, a former Miss Universe.

It would be the third marriage for Lopez, the sultry star whose previous trips down the aisle have both lasted a little over a year.

Tabloid news reports have linked Anthony and Lopez for weeks.

They noted that Lopez had recently returned the giant pink diamond engagement ring she was given by Affleck during the stormy "Bennifer" affair that rose to a fever pitch last September when the couple called off their wedding at short notice, citing excessive media intrusion.

Affleck and Lopez officially broke their engagement in January and both have maintained a low profile since then. But by May, Lopez was seen wearing another diamond, reportedly given to her by Anthony.

Ben is the fool here NOT J-Lo Ben wanted to still act like a swinging Bachlor while J-Lo wanted settel down to a nice homelife, much as you can in lime light! Hmmm... you got a point david, but I guess Ben is still enjoying the limelight...

But guys, I wonder, why do J-Lo get a lot of breakups? Can anyone shed me some light...

David, you and I know we do not agree on JLo, but how in the world do you know wht's in her mind, when she does not appear to even know!  So now, Marc is to be the sperm donor and we all know this marriage in all probabilities will not last.   ...and I bse this on both of their past history with the opposite sex.
For Marc is one of those, yep, a womanizer!

Even Ben's longtime friend, Matt, knew their marriage would never happen.
Why do you think he did not fly back to the USA for the wedding that did not take place?  Obviously he was clued to not waste the money on a ticket!

So don't get down on our "BEN" for being one savvy, "HAWT" guy and getting out when the getting is good!  After all if Momma doesn't like the future wife, problems will be forever on the home front!  We women know he can do better! Grin Kiss

J-Lo has proved with her frequent "fast" weddings that she has a STRONG desire to settle down and live a simple (as it can be) life with a hubby and kids. She desires this so much she jumps into marriages and serious relationships without alot of thought! That is my reasoning. Ben well he hasnt sowed his oats yet and Matt (being his best friend) knew this. J-Lo's problems with Ben came from his not giving up his wild ways which included visting strip clubs and gambling! Alledged Prenup included Sex no less tthan 4 times a week as many kids as she wants and a hefty fine for adultery. J-Lo wanted to play house cooking cleaning (yes working) taking care of their kids plus enjoy Ben every chance she got. Sounds like Ben is the real loser but in his defense if he isnt done sowing his oats yet then he need not settle down. Ms. Lopez real fault here is wanting to have that "dream" of living as a wife has clouded her thinking (that is otherwise sharp). J-Lo is a VERY sharp woman but when it comes to her dream life she acts too quick and makes poor choices will this marriage last doubtful but I wish the best for her as she only wants what alot of us already have!

I'm with you Rhune.

Though I hope and wish this marriage sticks - odds say it won't.  What a shame.  Marc Anthony doesn't have the best reputation with the ladies and now JLo and he have hooked up.

While I'm not defending Marc, JLo or Ben - I don't want to bash them, either.  I dunno - what's the point?

I disagree.  I think Ms. Lopez shows that she has a terrible codependancy issue and self esteem problems.  She jumps into marriage after marriage quickly and non-marital relationships as well.  I think she went a whole week after Ben before she was publicly with Anthony?  She finds her self worth in being in a couple and is unable to live alone without being in one.  This speaks of addiciton.  Some people get an endorphin high feeling from being in love or being in a relationship and these people are unable to go without one and often make up and break up.  Ms. Lopez has shown an equal willingness to abandon her current relationship when the prospect of a new one comes along (see marriages 1 and 2 for example), which again speaks to me of addiction.  When her current relationship no longer provides that high feeling, she jumps quickly to the next person who can.

I dont disagree but I find Ben the real loser based on my views of J-Lo I also agree Ms. Lopez has some need issues and that is partly to blame for her quickness to marry! Ms. Lopez is going to make someone a wonderful wife if she ever picks the right one and can get past her own personal demons that compell her to act foolishly like this.

Ok, David, please lay off Ben. Grin    He is a young man, doing young man things, didn't you?

It makes sense that he would have second and third thoughts about a marriage with her, due to her past track record.   Roll Eyes

Rhune, I agree with you, maybe she and Marc can get a good rate for family counseling.

Now David you can have the last word, but we'll have the last laugh and say,
"I told you so!"
Now I hope I don't hear J-Lo or Marciffer again! Undecided Lips Sealed
