Shop's WALL OF SHAME

Where I live there is so much shoplifting, shop owners have stopped waiting for the state\fedral government to do something, they have done something themselves, they have erected walls of shame in their shops with people caught shoplifting on security cameras on them, already shoplifting has dropped by 50% because of these walls

The shops have effective slogans such as DON'T LET THIS BE YOU written above the pictures. Human Rights people say that this is a breach in privacy, but i say that if you steal, break the law you have no rights. Well not much anyway.

That's a great idea! :laff: If ever I put up a business, I might consider doing something like that.

There's something similar here, but it's done to drug addicts' houses. If they found out that you are an addict or sells/buys drugs, they'll spray paint (red color) the door of your house with something like "A Pusher's House" (in our native language, of course).

Wow, now those seem like they might actually work....Im afraid however that if that was going on here there would be 100's of Human Rights Tribunals popping up  and all paid for by taxpayers...

I would have loved to do this when I had my record store. The problem is if you don't prosecute they can claim slander. Our store policy was if you did not see them put it in their coat/etc you had best be real, real sure they stole or you could get in a heap of trouble.

We had one gang of theives in the area that would blantantly steal in your face, when you turned your back they would dump the product. When you stopped them they would make a big scene and then sue you for defamation of character (or something like that).

I would personally just hang out near the thieves. I would rearrange stock, chat with them about the weather, talk about music, etc. Just make them feel like I would never leave. Most never stuck around long and left in a huff.  Cheesy

At Penneys we have "6 points" if we dont have all six of these points we are NOT to make an arrest! this prevents false arrest and law suits

My father is sometimes irritated by Human Rights group because sometimes they side with the criminals. The one I mentioned above about spray-painting actually got human right groups sqwaking.

Like DJ, he said if you do a crime, you don't have rights anymore (or not that much).

I tend to agree if it is proven that the person really did commit a crime. But that's the hard part, PROVING someone's guilty.

Ohio passed into law that DUI offenders will be forced to have a "Special" licence plate (Different Color).  How's that for a scarlet letter?

Why not put Christmas lights on the car itself, so that you can see it even from far away? Then you can just pull over and let that car pass...
