Paparazzi Pact
Gwyneth makes a deal. Plus, Madonna's new moniker

Looks like Gwyneth Paltrow is making a preemptive strike to keep her paparazzi-averse hubby Chris Martin from striking out. According to Access Hollywood, the new mom has made a deal with the cameramen constantly hovering around her home in an attempt to get her privacy back.

While on a stroll in New York on Sunday with baby Apple and her mother-in-law, Allison Martin, Paltrow reportedly confronted -- in a nice way -- the lensmen who were trailing her.

"We basically started walking down the street shooting her from a distance and after a few blocks she decided to call us over to talk about the whole photographer situation," a paparazzo tells AH. "She says that her husband basically is fed up with the whole situation and she wanted to know what she can basically do to avoid the photographers from sitting on her doorstep and following her around so her husband won't get into an altercation with one."

The solution? Paltrow agreed to pose for pictures, including coveted shots of her cradling Apple, if the photographers promised to leave her family in peace when they're out in public.

This kinder, gentler approach to snappers may not only protect Gwyn's loved ones -- it may protect the paparazzi from Martin, who has a tendency to channel Sean Penn when confronted with flashbulbs.

You'll recall that back in April, the Coldplay frontman was accused of kicking a photographer as he and Gwyneth exited a London restaurant (Martin insisted the man tripped), and in January he reportedly taunted photographers outside Kate Moss' high-profile 30th birthday party, telling them as he ran toward his car, "Come on, let's see if you fat boys can keep up with me."

Last year, Martin was cleared of malicious-damage charges resulting from a dust-up with a photographer in Australia. Soon after, he reportedly scuffled with paparazzi as he and Gwyneth were boarding a private plane in California.

"What people don't know is the ugly aggressiveness that goes into getting a picture for a weekly celebrity magazine," Gwyneth was quoted as saying back in February. "There'll be someone sitting outside your house, day and night. The paparazzi stop at nothing."

I admire Paltrow for what she did. That's a classy way to deal with paparazzis. But I do hope the pz's stop hounding her after they get what they want. If they didn't, then let Mr. Martin loose and chase them up a tree.
