Update on Holly Jones - Killer Pleads Guilty

DO NOT READ THE FOLLOWING IF YOU MAY BE UPSET BY A STORY ABOUT CHILD PORNOGRAPHY AND MURDER.    This is an update about the little girl Holly Jones(www.hollyjones.ca) in my neighbourhood and to let folks here know that her killer pleaded guilty to first degree murder.

Some of you may recall that a little girl in my neighbourhood last year was kidnapped by a total stranger and raped and murdered.  She was 10 years old at the time.  She was walking home from a friend's house
 
He claims to have pleaded guilty to avoid the family and further pain.  He had no previous criminal record and with the guilty plea came further information about how he was driven to have sex with a child from viewing pornography on the internet.  Information that is so easy to find as typing in the word baby in google.  I was shocked.    He went out driven to have sex with a child, saw Holly on the street alone and realized he could nab her without being seen.  It was all over in 40 minutes.  I am sick to my stomach just typing this.   He dismembered her body and took it to our beautiful Lake Ontario and left her there to be found the next morning.  I can't write any more.  Here is one news story on the matter. http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Law/2004/06/15/500756-cp.html

While I think internet porn may have influenced this man, I think it takes more than looking at pictures on the web to prompt someone to kill and dismember a child.  They have to be seriously distrubed before they reach those pictures on the net and pick that particular path to go down.  They have to be the kind of person who's willing to kill and dismember someone already, but just hasn't worked up to that level of depravity yet.   These are the kinda kids that my mother works with, future serial killers, rapists, murders, etc.  It's a shame that she (and other therapists) can only work with so many, because in most cases if these kids are removed from the home life that put them on this path in the first place and placed into a loving home and given therapy, the damage is reversible in varying degrees.  Not every child is gonna come out "normal" but most can reverse to the point where they grow up with a concience if they given the opportunity to.  Once they reach this man's age, forget it, there is no reversing the beast they have become, there's only how much damage they will do before they are caught.
 
I am very glad to hear he pleaded guilty, I hope they fry him.

He won't be fried but he will have a hard time in jail.  He will have a chance at early parole because he pleaded guilty but it's unlikely it will be granted because there will be a huge outcry even 15 years from now.  Like Carla Homolka who is putting in her whole term (not long enough in my opinion) because attempts for early parole were a risk to her own life if she was ever granted it.
 
There is no death penalty in Canada.  He will have to live with what he did.

I doubt he fries since I am sure the guilty plea was to avoid death penalty

I have a friend who was a prison guard at one point and I have heard some pretty ugly stories on what happens to child molesters in prison...
