TOO HOT FOR ARIZONA CONVICTS ?
It's even hotter than usual in Phoenix, 116 degrees
sets a new record, the Associated Press reports:
About 2,000 inmates living in a barbed-wire-surrounded
tent encampment at the
Maricopa County Jail have been given permission to
strip down to their government-issued pink boxer shorts.
On Wednesday, hundreds of men wearing boxers were
either curled up on their bunk beds or chatted in
the tents, which reached 138 degrees inside the week
before. Many were also swathed in wet, pink towels
as sweat collected on their chests and dripped down
to their pink socks.
"It feels like we are in a furnace," said James
Zanzo't, an inmate who has lived in the tents for
1-1/2 years. "It's inhumane."
Joe Arpaio, the tough-guy sheriff who created the
tent city and long ago started making his prisoners
wear pink, and eat bologna sandwiches, is not one
bit sympathetic.
He said Wednesday that he told all of the inmates:
"It's 120 degrees in Iraq and our soldiers are
living in tents too, and they didn't commit any
crimes, so shut your damned mouths."

Sheriff Joe is a guy that you either love or hate. His philosophy is that jail isn't supposed to be pleasant. Not only are the items above all true but he has also reinstituted chain gangs in the traditional black/white striped uniforms (for both men and women). I personally think that he has the right idea and appearently so do others as he has been reelected time after time.   Cool Cool

The news filmed his jail and talked with him, maybe lat year.  Anyway, we saw it and was impressed that finally someone has taken a stand that if a person does enough wrong to be in a jail or prison, why should they have 3 hot squares a day and AC, cable TV!

GOOD ON HIM!
 
People that live in Outback Austrlia have to deal with temperatures as high as 45C
and they have been living there for years and years! They should think themselves lucky about it. (tell me if i'm wrong how high is 140F in C? Is 45C higher than 140F?) People living in Central China major heat, people living in ever African country major heat, people living in most parts of South America major heat. Even Europe gets quite hot during summer. North America gets the lower heat range because they are NO Deserts in the center of the country. (sure you do have deserts but not in the center.)
