MONTROSE, Colo. - A corporate jet taking off from near a ski area crashed through a fence and burst into flames Sunday, killing at least two of the six people on board and seriously injuring three others.

Sheriff's officials said two people were dead, but a Federal Aviation Administration spokesman said three had died in the crash at Montrose Regional Airport, which serves the Telluride Ski Area.

A sixth person listed on the plane's manifest had not been found. Authorities were searching for the missing person in rugged terrain by helicopter and on the ground.

There was snow in the area but regional FAA spokesman Allen Kenitzer said he did not know if it was a factor.

The plane was on its way to South Bend, Ind. Kenitzer identified it as a CL-601 Challenger registered to Jet Alliance of Millville, N.J.

A spokesperson at Jet Alliance said she had no information about the crash.

Investigators from the FAA and National Safety Transportation Board were en route to the airport, 185 miles southwest of Denver.

This missing boy is the son of actress, Susan St James and TV Executive, Dick Ebersol. Engersol and the 22 yr old son were injured.

I had heard about this as well. I understand they chose not to de-ice the plane before take off, which caused the crash. I hope their son is found safe.

GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado (AP) -- The body of the 14-year-old son of NBC Sports chairman Dick Ebersol was believed recovered Monday after a fiery jet crash that killed two crewmen and left the injured executive and another of his sons begging bystanders for help.

Coroner Mark Young said a body matching the description of Edward "Teddy" Ebersol was found underneath the wreckage. Heavy equipment was used to recover the body.

"I'm not going to discuss the condition of the body out of respect for the family," he said during a news conference.

The aircraft with six people on board crashed during a snowstorm Sunday while taking off from the airport about 185 miles southwest of Denver. Federal authorities had no immediate word on the cause of the crash.

Witnesses described a chaotic scene following the crash. Charles Ebersol, the sports executive's 21-year-old son, was screaming for help and saying his brother was still on the plane, according to Doug Percival, a driver at a towing service who was one of the first to arrive.

"Can you please help get him out?"' Ebersol pleaded, according to Percival. The elder Ebersol was sitting on the ground nearby, rocking back and forth.

"You could tell he was in shock. Both of them had been ripped out of their shoes," said Percival.

I am so sorry to hear about this news story.

What a terrible tragedy.

Please everyone remember what my father has told me over and over again throughout my life. there is no reason to hurry somewhere. It is OK to take the extra time you need.

I hear his voice in my head so often and I know that he won't mind if I am late so long as I arrive.

this story breaks my heart and prayers to the family.

I have to wonder who's decision it was to cut corners and not de-ice the plane after landing in a snow storm like that. My sympathy goes out to this family, I can't even fathom what it would be like to lose one of my children like this...

My mother commented to me some time back that the people who never forgive themselves in therapy, the ones you really can only do so much for, are the ones that feel responsible for the accidental death of a child.
