Dallas Man's Dog Retrieves Bag Of Pot
Man Insists Bag Isn't His

FORT WORTH, Texas -- By now, you might have already read the story from Grapevine about the black Laborador Retriever that accidentally helped a police officer collar his owner by running up to the officer carrying a bag of marijuana.
 
J.D.'s owner, Matt Porter.  
 
But, in an exclusive interview with NBC 5's Scott Gordon, the dog's owner said the story that went nationwide isn't entirely accurate.
 
Matt Porter (pictured, right) was playing frisbee golf in a Grapevine park on Monday afternoon. Porter's dog, J.D., was alongside his owner in the park.  
 
Porter admits to smoking pot that afternoon with some friends but said the bag of pot retrieved by J.D. was not his.
 
"An officer crept up on us on a bicycle," Porter recalls. "And, I was like, oh man. So, I put my joint out on the ground and stuff like that and I smashed it and everything was all right."
 
Everything was alright, until J.D. came running up with the now-famous bag of dope.
 
"I was like, wow. Then I got scared because here's a bag of pot ... here's an officer ... you don't just give your dog a treat. This is a bad time. Very bad timing," Porter said.
 
Porter insisted he had never seen the bag before.
 
"This wouldn't have been anything if the dog wouldn't have retrieved the bag of pot. So congratulations to J.D. He deserves a badge," Porter said.
 
Porter said he loves his pooch and definitely plans to take him to play at the same park again, but said next time he won't be smoking marijuana.

it wasn't mine either... so that knocks out two suspects....LOL!!!
