CHRIS LeDOUX’S PASSING

National Bronc Riding Champion-turned country singer-songwriter, Chris LeDoux, died yesterday at age 56, in Casper, Wyoming after battling bile duct cancer.

LeDoux, whose life was saved in 2000 by a liver transplant, was recently fighting cancer of the bile duct with treatments at his home in Wyoming. He was checked into the Casper Medical center earlier this week with
complications from the treatment.

LeDoux was surrounded by friends and family at the time of his death. Chris LeDoux was born in Biloxi, Ms, October 2, 1948 and raised in Austin, Tx.

LeDoux said he began his music career by writing, singing and recording cassette albums simply to make extra money by selling them to his fans at rodeos that came to see his championship bronc-busting style. By the time Chris came to broader national attention in 1989 when Garth Brooks mentioned him in the lyrics of "Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old)," LeDoux's family-run record company had released some two dozen albums of his western-themed music.

LeDoux was signed by Capitol Nashville's Liberty imprint in 1990 and scored his biggest country chart hit in 1992 when "Whatcha Gonna Do With A Cowboy" (with Garth Brooks) hit #7 on the Billboard chart. In his lifetime he sold over 6 million albums.

Chris probably never would have acheived the success he had in Country Music as a Singer/Songwriter, had it not been for Garth Brooks mentioning him in a song years ago.

It is truely a tragic loss to the country music community. I enjoy his music.   Cry

Thanks for reading this, I4S.  A lot of folks still do not know who he is!  For the most part, he's a man who died to young and left a family Cry
He also was a sculptor!  A very talented man Cool
