Actually I do know someone who married a Russian mail-order bride. They are actually a very good match for each other and quite happy. I figure it's like meeting people any other way...some are gonna work out and some are gonna be a total bust.

The head of our IT department here at work found one in Romania. He went over to meet her back a few months ago. Apparently they had been carrying on for quite some time because he popped the question and she said yes. She has now gotten most all of her paperwork done. He left on Monday headed there for 2 weeks. They are having a church wedding. I am not sure when she will come for good.

Several things he likes about her: not into material things, wants the man to be the boss, will be a wife and not work.

I read an interesting statistic awhile back, where the highest population of Russian women is in states like North Dakota and Montana. They actually hold these big meets where you can meet potential wives and go on a date night, etc. Many women who come over from Russia are happy with a more traditional and rural lifestyle and most american girls growing up on farms today don't aspire to marry a farmer and live that life. Most american girls grow up and want to move to the city and have a more modern lifestyle, they just aspire to more than being a farmer's wife, whereas many Russian and other European women coming in are quite content with that lifestyle and so they make more ideal farmer's wives.
