The Top 10 Worst Songs Ever

We all have songs we love to hate. Blender magazine has named what it considers the worst songs of all time, and leading that list is Jefferson Starship's "We Built This City."

Blender editor Craig Marks said it was chosen because "it seems to inspire the most virulent feelings of outrage." Sealing the song's fate in the No. 1 spot on the list no artist seeks was the "sheer dumbness of the lyrics." He elaborated to USA Today, saying, "It purports to be anti-commercial, but reeks of '80s corporate-rock commercialism. It's a real reflection of what practically killed rock music in the '80s."

The nominated songs were all big hits, but that doesn't mean they were any good. Still, this is one way to memorialize them--and hope they die a quick death. Blender showed no mercy. In its complete list of all 50 songs, published exclusively in its print magazine, works by The Beatles, The Beach Boys, and Simon & Garfunkel were panned.

Blender's top 10 worst songs ever:

"We Built This City" by Jefferson Starship

"Achy Breaky Heart" by Billy Ray Cyrus

"Everybody Have Fun Tonight" by Wang Chung

"Rollin'" by Limp Bizkit

"Ice Ice Baby" by Vanilla Ice

"The Heart of Rock-and-Roll" by Huey Lewis and the News

"Don't Worry, Be Happy" by Bobby McFerrin

"Party All the Time" by Eddie Murphy

"American Life" by Madonna

"Ebony and Ivory" by Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder
Notable songs included in the worst 50 were:

Right Said Fred's "I'm Too Sexy"

Beatles' "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da"

REM's "Shiny Happy People"

John Mayer's "Your Body is a Wonderland"

Simon & Garfunkel's "The Sounds of Silence"
WHAT? The "Sounds of Silence"? "It's the freshman-poetry meaningfulness that got our goat," Marks explained. "With self-important lyrics like, 'Hear my words that I might teach you,' it's almost a parody of pretentious '60s folk-rock."

These may be 10 of the worst songs, but some made over a Million anyway.
They don't care if the song is on the worst list, as they count their money Grin

A LOT of money's been made off those 10 songs for sure!

I'd settle just for the money the mullethead made off of Achy Breaky.   Roll Eyes

"Achy Breaky Heart" was a toe tappin' hand clappin' upbeat song that young girls, women and children loved, or was it Billy Ray they loved?   Whichever it was, was enough to make him a millionaire quick!

Men said he would be a one hit wonder and we all would wonder where he went.....................the ladies kept buying his records, swoonin' over his long hair, good looks and hot body!

.....but ole Billy Ray out to prove them wrong,  laughed all the way to the bank, wrote one of the best songs ever, paying tribute to our militarymen,
with "Some Gave All".

Tops that off with his own TV Show, so Billy Ray,
(the Redneck one hit wonder?), has lived the American Dream!

Can't get any better  Cool

oh many of them are bad songs indeed... but I like We Built This City, Sound of Silence, Ebony and Ivory and Your Body is A Wonderland...

but I'd definitely agree with Achy Breaky Heart and Don't Worry Be Happy....  but then they were hits in the 80's

Oh, I better not let my mom know about that. (But like Luci said, I think it's HIM they love, not the song)
