Man jailed for 16 years over acid murder
13:48 AEST Fri Apr 22 2005

A man has been jailed for 16 years for the murder of a Sydney accountant who died after acid was forced down his throat at gunpoint.

Dax Satorre, 38, pleaded guilty in the NSW Supreme Court to murdering Dominic Li at Concord in Sydney's west.

Mr Li was confronted by two gunmen at his home on December 13, 2002.

Pistol whipped and forced to the ground, he was held down while hydrochloric acid was poured over his face and into his mouth.

Mr Li, 45, was blinded and suffered severe burns.

He died in hospital from internal injuries three weeks later.

Satorre was promised $1,000 and an ongoing supply of methylamphetamine to drive the two assailants to and from Mr Li's house, the court was told.

Sentencing him to a maximum 16 years behind bars, Justice Timothy Studdert said Satorre took part in the "shocking crime" for his own selfish reasons.

"While (Satorre) did not participate in the actual attack upon the deceased, his role in the crime was a very meaningful one," the judge said.

He ordered Satorre to serve a minimum 12 years making him eligible for parole in 2016.
