Kylie Minogue diagnosed with Breast cancer

Kylie minogue is a hugely successful Australain singer and actress.  
 
I know her name may not be familar to you in the USA however for the past 20 years she has been  one of australias most successful and popular entertainers.
 
Kylie is massively popular in the UK and Europe and from the age of 17 has graced our tv screens and her music has been played on just about every cd player in the country.
 
She has dated Prince, the late micheal Hutence of INXS and is currently involved with french actor Olivier martinez.
 
Kylie was just about to begin her australian leg of her "Showgirl "tour....an announcement today cancelled all shows as she prepares for surgery and treatment.
 
Kylie turns 37 in 2 weeks...
 
I wish her well and know that her millions of fans
 around the world will be praying for her!

It is terribly sad....as I said she may not be that well known in America but here and in many parts of the world she is an icon.
 
She did have a hit in the USA about 4 years ago with " I can't get you out of my head" and appeared on the Late show with david letterman and the Jay Leno tonight show!
 
Both Madonna and Britney spears are fans of hers and have apparently sent faxes wishes her and speedy recovery!
 
it's scary really as I am only 5 days older than kylie!

I think Kylie is pretty well known in the U.S.  I'm sorry to hear about her illness, and wish her the best in treatment and results.  It's a blow when you hear the C word whether you're famous or not.

I wish her and all the others round the world going through this the best of my wishes.  One of my aunts died of breast cancer many years ago, leaving two young daughters behind.  She didn't tell anyone she was ill until it was too late.  She hid her condition and so her death was a horrible shock.  She didn't get proper treatment as a result.  It's important when celebrities come forward with things like this, because it helps other people have the courage to tell their loved ones too.

Rhune I'm sorry to hear aboput your aunt.....her reasons for not sharing her illness with you may be personal however having the support and encouragement of loved ones is sometimes half the battle!
 
kylies celebrity will of course raise awareness just like when Oliva Newton John was diagnosed some 15 years ago.........kylies battle however is more likely to raise the awareness in younger women.
 
I don't know what it's like in the US but here although regular breast examinations etc are highly recommended most hospitals and the like offer free breast screening and examinations to women over 50....hopefully now younger women will be offered a whole lot more!

She was supposed to have a concert here, but now it's cancelled.

Sad to say I remember her first from the late 80's when she covered "The Locomotion". She is a talented, beautiful woman (then again I have this thing for Aussie women, hehe) and I hope she beats this.

Kylie underwent surgery today and her tumour was successfully removed.
 
The cancer had not spread outside of the breast so it was dtected early.
 
She will now start a course of radiotherapy and perhaps some chemo!
