A New Battle of Gettysburg

Nearly a century and a half after the bloodiest battle on North American soil, another fight is raging in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. People are battling over a proposed slots casino and spa.  
A national leader in the fight against expansion of legalized gambling was in Gettysburg last night to encourage opponents of a proposed slots casino and spa near the historic town.  
 
The Reverend Tom Grey is executive director of the National Coalition Against Legalized Gambling.  
 
He spoke at a public meeting saying the issue is "a definitive battle in terms of how far America is prepared to go with gambling."  
 
Grey was joined by representatives of the Civil War Preservation Trust and the National Parks Conservation Association, both of which oppose the casino.  
 
David LeVan, the president of the Chance Enterprises investment syndicate, has said the site would attract bettors from the Baltimore and Washington, D.C., areas as well as from Gettysburg's tourist traffic.
