Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes expecting :barf:

Lovebirds Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are expecting their first child together.

Cruise and Holmes got engaged in June but no wedding date has been set.

Cruise's sister and publicist Lee Anne Devette confirmed the great expectation to People magazine Wednesday, saying both the couple and "the entire family is very excited." She declined to reveal any details about the due date or the sex of the child but said Holmes, 26, "has never felt better."

Cruise, 43, hasn't hidden his desire to have kids with Holmes. The superstar already has two adopted children, Connor, 10, and Isabella, 12, from his second marriage to Nicole Kidman. His first union, to actress Mimi Rogers, did not produce any children.

After several months out of the spotlight, photos recently surfaced of Holmes and Cruise at Isabella's soccer game.

The two first unveiled their PDA-heavy relationship to the world back in April, when Holmes joined Cruise in Rome for the David di Donatello awards. But their whirlwind romance was met with some skepticism, as media outlets questioned whether it was a publicity stunt to promote their two respective summer films, Holmes' Batman Begins and Cruise's War of the Worlds.

After barely two months of very public dating, Cruise proposed to the previously reserved Holmes June 17 atop the Eiffel Tower over a candlelit dinner at the Jules Verne restaurant. He announced the engagement at a press conference the same day: "Today is a magnificent day for me. I'm engaged to a magnificent woman," Cruise told reporters.

The two were largely inseparable at the June 23 Manhattan premiere of Cruise's War of the Worlds, holding hands as they chatted with fans and kissing for the cheering crowds. He mouthed "I love you" to Holmes after leaving her side to work the red carpet and told USA TODAY that although a wedding date had not been set, "I know it's going to happen."

Devette told People that there's no wedding date yet and did not provide any details about the nuptials. It's an open question whether the ceremony would be conducted within the controversial Church of Scientology, of which Cruise is a prominent member. A Scientology minister officiates at a Scientology wedding and friends and family are asked to give their consent to the union.

Cruise is shooting Mission: Impossible 3 in Los Angeles.

Katie Holmes Continues Purge of Inner Circle

Katie Holmes fired her publicist of nearly eight years on Tuesday.

During her conversation with Leslie Sloane-Zelnick, Holmes did not mention that she was pregnant by fiancé Tom Cruise. The next day, the news broke.

In short order, since meeting Cruise in April, Holmes has now fired her manager, changed agents and discharged her publicist. All had been her longtime allies.

And let's not forget the broken engagement to actor Chris Klein back in March. That's a lot of activity for seven months.

Where does that leave our Katie? I'm told that Holmes has claimed Cruise's sister, Lee Ann De Vette, as her new publicist.

Pictures of Holmes from just a few days ago with Cruise on the set of "Mission: Impossible 3" are circulating on the Internet. There's no sign of a pregnancy, but there is a woman in the background of every picture.

She's been identified as Jessica Feshbach Rodriguez, Holmes' best friend since the spring and a high-level minder from the Church of Scientology. Her family has donated millions to Scientology.

As for Holmes' friends here in New York, the word is that not one of them has heard from the actress since she flew to L.A. to meet Cruise for the first time last April.

Since Holmes first became associated with Cruise, her career has come to a standstill. Pretty much the only project she has coming up is the DVD release of "Batman Begins."

That release coincides with the release of the "War of the Worlds" DVD. The timing of the releases and the pregnancy announcement are probably coincidental.

Holmes pulled out of the next movie she was supposed to make, "Factory Girl," after she became involved with Cruise. Certain to be a career-maker, the role of Edie Sedgwick will now be played by Sienna Miller.

A more recently announced Holmes part, a smallish one in a Dennis Quaid-directed feature about the 1961 murder of a woman by her bandleader husband, will probably have to be tabled now.

Holmes also makes an appearance in "Thank You for Smoking," currently playing the festival circuit. Otherwise, her career trajectory which was on the upswing with "Pieces of April" is over.

All of this still leaves the issue of Holmes' family members back in Toledo. They're putting on a brave face. But they can't be too thrilled about a pregnancy without a marriage.

So I guess we can expect an adrenaline-filled, paparazzi-crazed wedding sometime in the next month. Gentlemen, start your helicopters.

We're talking about brainwashing though, she is never anywhere alone, her family and friends complain about how they can't get near her anymore, etc. etc. Will rebellion or maturity come? It's hard to say. How often do people leave cults? Not very from my understanding. They may be together for a long long time, because she may not be anything other than the perfect little wife for him after her brainwashing is complete. She's so smitten with him, she dove headfirst into it, not realizing the dream was a nightmare (in my opinion). A baby just kinda seals her fate.

Well put Rhune. I agree completely. I used to "love" Tom Cruise. Have been a fan since "Taps". But his actions since he and Nicole split have put me off. Now he just seems plain nuts. I know the Travoltas are also scientologists, but I don't get the same "in your face" feel from them. They just quietly go about their business.

heh...

There are actually some methods they could use, but are very very expensive. I read about one where they can take a tiny slice from a specific part of the testicular area, which will contain all the DNA it needs, and they use this eyedropper where the tip of the dropper is so small they have to use a microscope to see it, and they inject the DNA into an egg. It was developed back in the mid 80's. I watched a special on it back then. They were talking about how even a man with no sperm count could use this method, but that it was grossly expensive and just wouldn't be commercially available for years. Someone with his money and influence could have tried this method.
