Humanity's Cruelest Invention

So this story was the front page of my home page.  It was about Pamela Anderson taking aim on KFC.
 
"In a letter to Fletcher, Anderson detailed alleged abuses of chickens by KFC suppliers. Among her claims, she said workers in a slaughterhouse in West Virginia have been filmed tearing the heads off live birds, spitting tobacco in their eyes, spray-painting their faces and slamming them on the ground. "

On that same page, I clicked a link and found a very interesting website called, http://www.kentuckyfriedcruelty.com/ce.asp
 
It's a website about actors, musicians, academics, or other well know figures who talk about the abuse of animals, and how to eliminate the cruelty.
 
I clicked a video narrated by Alec Baldwin and I was just shocked/floored/saddened by the abuse and torture animals (cattle, pigs, chickens) face for human consumption.  Things like having their throat slit, and skinned while still alive, or thrown into a scalding chamber to remove hair or feathers while still conscious, being burned alive, cattle castrated, horns chopped off without painkillers, chickens literally thrown into cages headed off to slaughterhouses, and not being given food for hours upon hours, turkeys being beaten with metal rods, or sick chickens getting slammed head first into the concrete, animals injected with hormones making them so big that their legs can't even support their own weight, sick animals that aren't put out of their misery, but instead kept alive in hopes that they will grow enough to make it to the slaughterhouses so the producers can make a profit, etc, etc...

You really have to see it to believe it.  Now I'm a meat eater, and I had never really ever thought about the treatment animals get when I eat them, but this video really will make me think the next time I sit down and have beef, chicken or pork to eat.  I hope this will make others think about this and might be able to support the cause and awareness about this.
