here's my first soiree into fingerpaint, i call it 'starry fingerpaint' as it was inspired by starry night by monet which i saw in person at the moma in ny two years ago...sigh...

and then there is my faux stained glass window done with a real window, rice paper and acrylics...

and for extra measure ~ another doggie shot entitled can we please go for a walk now?

okay, okay...off to the church to volunteer tomorrow and i promise, so promise not to come home without taking pictures of my missing women stuff....really...no, really, i will...

but, first, by way of introduction, these paintings wre done in memory of the women who have gone missing, have died or have been murdered in the downtown eastside of vancouver, bc.

in february 2002, sereena's inhaler was found in port coquitlam on a pig farm.
weeks later, robert pickton was arrested for the
murders of sereena abotsway and mona wilson.

okay, here it goes, the first one...

beauty
...while driving home from the dtes one evening, i was given this image of a street worker's legs which i immediately thought to fingerpaint. first with crayola kid's paint and then in the following weeks as it is now...i think that during my lenten journey, it was meant to represent the walk to jerusalem...to the cross. i called it beauty originally, but i am thinking about 'beauty's journey'...

Thank you kari-ann for posting your pic. Thanks for making these women be real live living people, for giving them names and honouring them as each human being on this planet should be. I will watch for the other paintings. The poem from sereena was very touching. It would be terribly inappropriate language if I went on to say what I think of the man/men arrested in the murders of these women. There can be no justice when someone has murdered another.
