thing my son did.

There are times when I am amazed the human species has managed to thrive...

We went to the local mall. They have this new play area for little kids, that's basically a wall on one side, surrounded on 2 sides with big cushy benches, like the seats in restaurant booths, only about 20 feet long, and then the last side is open with about 3 wooden benches for people to sit on.

My husband and I sat on one of the wooden benches - it was open and it gives you the best view of the entire play area to keep an eye on your kids. The benches have these big arms that curl up with these rectangular wooden dowels, almost like crib rails, only in a big circular/tube-like arrangement.

My son was being a butthead and pushing another kid. I told him to stop and he yelled, "No mommy!" So I threw him into time out on the bench with me. About a minute into his time out he casually says, "Stuck". I said, "Yep, stuck in time out." His reply, "No, stuck!" and jiggles his arm, which is now stuck between the rungs on the bench arm.

Don't ask me how he did it, but it was caught just past the elbow, which was too thick to get back out between the rungs. In the end it took 3 men pulling hard on the wooden rungs while my husband pulled my son's arm out, while he wailed and balled (cause it hurt) to get him unstuck. I thought we were gonna have to break the bench to get him out of it. The worst part was that he was so excited afterwards by how much attention he got for it, I'm just absolutely certain he'll try it again when we go back next. :yikes:

Isn't it amazing what they can get stuck in places. :yikes:

My daughter at about the same age stuck her finger the tubing on her stroller and we had the worst time getting it out. Of course I then taped over the tubing after that but truly. They are so experimental and creative and _______ fill in the blank LOL

I am so glad that his arm was OK. I do think he will think twice about it and remember the whole thing with pride without actually reliving it. LOL

I can't remember the girls getting anything stuck, but I'm sure that will change. They just like to stick things in their nose. Kiwi stuck a bead up her nose when she was three. And just a few months ago, Cheddar, the 3 yr old stuck a rock up her nose. Perhaps I should tape the babies nose shut. No telling what she'll stick up her nose.

Sounds like you had a stressful visit to the mall.

Hang in there, hopefully your little guy will maintain his zest and enthusiasm for life without doing too much damage in the unfolding of it all.

and my cousin stuck his head between the railings of a fence at the zoo.. they actually had to dismantle the fence to get him out.. count on kids to keep us on our toes :laugh:

lucy has a bad habit of sticking her finger in the hole in the plastic lid of a fast food restuarant cup. You know the hole in the lid is just an "x" cut into the lid. When her finger goes in, it's stuck, because the points of the "x" cut into her finger. She actually got cut the first time she tried it, and probably will again. I bet you never knew that plastic lids were dangerous, huh?
