Eastendgirl - are you settled after your move?

Just thinking about you and wondering how you have settled in after your move.

Are you still taking photos?  Still turning them into greeting cards?

Just thinking about you and wondering how things are going.  BTW does this mean you no longer live in the DDES?  If so, have you found it hard adjusting to your new neighbourhood?

i am now in prince george temporarily, at least until the new year, until i moved back hopefully into a co-op situation but this could take time.  i am mostly settled here.  i would rather be back in vancouver but know that for the moment it is better for my well-being to be living with my mother.

Hugs to you   and to your mom too.   :grouphug:  So you must tell us about Prince George.  Where exactly is it?  What should we see if we come to visit there (other than you of course Wink  ) Also if you ever need a space of your own - stop by here for a little internet cafe break.

Cool Cool Cool okay, it has been quite the night for me and my family!  earlier today, my aunt had in a man wanting to return shoes to her store...they were on sale and all sales final but she let him return them anyway...turns out he was vladimir besedin, figureskater from the ukraine, here to perform with elvis stojko's SK8 evening.  he asked if she had tickets and she said no, things are a bit tight right now (especially with her niece moving in... :winkgrinSmiley.  he tells her he'll see if he can swing some tickets...she tells him her sister would never forgive her if she only got two and voila!  my aunt's new friend vladi called at 6:00pm (i answered the phone and spoke with him) and gave us four tickets for my aunt, her friend, my mother and i to go!  it was spectacular!  as well as elvis, skaters included elena berezhnaya and anton sikharulidze, iasbelle brasseur and lloyd eisler, phillippe candeloro, josee chouinard, brian orser, oksana kazakova and arthur dmitriev, elizabeth manley, elizabeth punsalan and jerod swallow (they had also been in the store and were quite friendly by my aunt's account) rudy galindo (so hilarious, he skated to the rocky horror picture show), surya bonaly, dan hollander, oleksiy polishuk and vladimir besedin and finally irina grigorian.

it was fab!  i had had such a hard day with my depression finally getting another b21 shot and will be making an appointment with the local naturopath...this was such a gift!  seeing as i am one quater ukrainian and my mom and aunt are one half, i am sending vladi a thank you card with the offer of perogies when he is in the area again!

amazing how these things happen when you need them the most!

btw, there are 80,000 people in pg (prince george) proper.  it is half way up bc...eight hours from vancouver and the ocean  Cry...has it's own share of poverty problems (to get involved in hopefully soon), there is a large first nations population as pg is surrounded by reserves, lots of loggers, forest workers, 4x4's (where they should be not in DOWNTOWN vancouver!  really!  people!  :stunned:  :smmirkSmiley, while the people are great here, the surroundings are lacking...it's rather grey until it snows and then it can be minus 50 degrees celsuis with the windshield factor and MEGA snow...we haven't any yet but my aunt who sells boots is very hopeful  :crossfingers:...and it has ME at least until mid january!

WOW, and I thought this was just a thread about moving...................you just never know.  This is proof that we should all read every post to every thread.  How exciting for you.  How lucky you are to see all of those famous skaters.  I love to watch Rudy Galindo.  What a great time you and your aunt, mother, and aunt's friend must have had.  Cool

Also, back to what I thought the thread was about, I'm glad that you are able to be with your mother for a while.  I'm sure she will provide you with the love and support that you need right now.  My prayers are with you and your mom too.

Glad to hear your moved in and getting settled.  The skating sounds like it was a fantastic evening.  I'm so jealous.  I love skating, but have never had the opportunity to see it in person.

That is so fantastic!!!!!!!!!!  What a list.  I am so glad it was so great.  A lifetime memory.   I would love to be jealous but I am just too happy for you!

Hugs   :grouphug:

PS I love the "windshield" factor.  Is that when the windshield ices up so much and so fast that you have to keep the scraper in your hand and at the red lights you reach out the window and scrape off some more! LOL,  Been there done that - our friends in Atlanta and Birmingham just miss out on that kind of fun.

Hope there's lots of snow and your aunt sells lots of boots.

Also I think your idea of sending a thank you card is wonderful.  BTW I think Ukrainian people rock!  I live in a Ukrainian neighbourhood in Toronto.  My real estate agent was ukrainian, her kids go to Saturday morning Ukrainian school and my daughter's piano teacher is from Kiev.  nice to learn a tidbit more about you.
