....well, son of a gun! Yesterday whilst feeding my grandson his lunch, I felt or heard a "clink". Actually, I think I felt "something" and realized I was hearing "something" too. Yeppers - Quinn finally cut his first tooth.

He's 6 mos and 'bout one week now and because the copious amount of slobber and pissiness - it's not a surprise. I called my daughter to surprise her with the news but she said she hadn't noticed anything like that during his breakfast feeding. She was sort of excited but......

Even when she returned home hours later - seeing about that tooth wasn't first and foremost on her mind. Later she checked the tooth and was disappointed a bit. Why? you may wonder. She fully expected to see a fully formed tooth - not just the microscopic point barely above the surface of the gum. :smmirk Cheesy

UH!

Oh well! I guess I wasn't all that well-informed when I was a new mom either, but I sure knew it was some kind of milestone. Am I right or wrong to be miffed 'cause I kinda sorta am. I won't be saying anything about this to her - I pretty much have to keep my lipzipped about anything. Undecided

and "unzip"......whew!

And I do put the milestones on the fridge calendar. Otherwise I'm afraid nothing would be remembered - ever. I purchased a pretty nice babybook too and I'm the only one whose made any entries - and not many of those either. I felt odd doing that but at least the info's on the calendar.

I should clarify something though. It's not that these happenings don't mean much to Deb or Quinn....their thinking is awfully fractured now days. I think I've mentioned before that they own and run a business. Right now they're in process of moving this business to their home and it's tricky.....permits, changing this and that and hoping everything is coordinated to happen on the right day.

They love their son - no doubt about that. BUT my priorities are a tad different. I just think (ie) when you come home - the FIRST thing you should do is love on the baby (if he/she is awake). They don't do this...they're in a bit of a fog lately and I really feel for them. Then they get on this guilt trip....oh geesh. Anyhoo, I think you get the drift. And I just keep it Lips Sealed

But sometimes I could just :whip:

Just vent any ole time sweetie. Maybe they just have so much faith in Grandma lovin they know little Quin is getting smooched on and sorta take it for granted at this point in time. When I was little my mom worked and it was my Granny who was "Mommy", the one who rocked and sang songs to me, made little toys for me, and snacks and stuff. I loved her dearly! :hug:

Just keep on documenting those "special moments". Down the road, harried Mom n Dad will really appreciate it.

Sometimes, it's hard for parents to appreciate all those "little things". So much to do, be responsible for, etc. In the rush to do the things that need to be done, they "forget" how important it is to stop and smell the flowers along the way!!

. . . . . it's a lesson that some learn sooner than others.
