Dangerous low temperatures.....

...are predicted for my area.  When I came home a little while ago, it did seem biting out there.
 
Tonight will be -30C with windchills dropping it further to -40C.  Can you say BRRRRRRRR?

brrrrrrr....me too wingsy....-20c....but  :sunny:...i walked to the Y this morning and had frozen eyelashes when i got there (i had covered my nose and mouth with my scarf).

Well, I'm in South-Central PA, rather than the Great White North, but over the next 36 hours it's going to feel like 5 to -5 degree F (-15 to -25 C).  That's not dangerous, but it is dang cold for this part of the country.  *BRRRR* indeed.

where i used to live in the kootenay region of bc, they always said that there was july, august and winter!   :wink3:  the snow fell one year in early november and tht snowfall melted in april!  i moved before winter could hit again under the guise continuing my graduate studies... Smiley
 
today it is -24c, the kitchen double paned windows look like an ice sculpture and i don't think i will be leavin the house much today.... :huh2:

I just went out to unplug my van and start up the engine.  I was totally layered and faced covered barely exposing my eyes so I could see where the heck I was going.
 
I could barely breathe though so I loosened up the fabric on my nose.  Almost immediately it felt like icicles were being shoved up my nose.  Can spell p-a-n-i-c-k?  Thank gawd I got my high octane boots yesterday.  They're good to -101F....... :yikes:
 
Now I have to screw up the courage to go back out to get where I gotta go.  Color me ice blue......lol

it's getting warmer here...-16c  Cheesy :wink3:...ut it's snowing now so the roads...i am so not used to this!

Oh goodness, I really feel for you guys.  This morning we had a chill factor of 8 degrees...way down here in East Texas!  I just cannot imagine it any colder...I can't handle this mess I've got here.   Poor Babies!

holy dump of snow batman!  in the last 24 hours, we have gotten over 25 cm of snow, that's 10 inches!  and it is still -15c...strange as usually the snow warms things up.  it is still snowing now.
 
sorry for highjacking the danerously cold temperatures thread to announce tons of snow!  i really feel for you wings, especially when i was watching the news last night and saw that -43c temperature for winterpeg!  may you have loads of  :sunny: !

WINTERPEG......that's cute.  I heard some kids using that name on TV this morning.  And K-A - in NOOO way have you highjacked this thread.  I mean - deadly frigid temps/ice/snow/whathaveyou.....it's all a part of this thread. :hug:
 
It's slightly warmed here - -24C right now and snow predicted tonight.  
 
I think part of the problems people have with rough weather is directly attributed to the area in which they live.  Here, snowplows and whatever else is needed to clear the roads.  Henrydamnedetta - pffffffst.  So if CM and crypto have cold weather and some freezing, it's tough.  
 
Here, you absolutely MUST have proper outterwear to survive and can purchase same in Jan or Feb and probably March.  In HRYDMDT - HAH.  If you didn't get what you needed for winter in July, you're toast.  
 
We don't live in a perfect world, do we?  We just hafta do the best we can.  But we can bitch - eh?  We can do that here  :rofl:
 
The one thing about this weather that terrifies me is falling.  I used to go tootling out and about wherever I lived.  Right now - I wouldn't - no way Jose.  I won't even go to the grocery without calling Deb to tell her I'm out for awhile.  'Course the call is usually about "how's the baby" but I always get in there what my plans are.
 
I'm so glad for all the responses on this thread.  I'm sure there will be more - I'm more of a wuss than you are K-A.  When the car does even the tiniest skid I'm nearly  :barf:

It continued to warm up and the temp's "up" to -5F.  There's a smidgen of snow falling but no big whoop....and no wind.  To tell you the truth, I would much rather live here, dealing with all this coldness, than in Australia (for instance), where there is so much horror and destruction and deaths from those raging bush fires. :tup:
 
Prayers continue to go to some friends in the Canberra area.  This weekend promises to worsen weather conditions there.

after a full night of snow...we have warmed up to -10c but it is impossible driving weather (over 6 inches just over night)!  
 
as i am also under the weather, my mom who was unable to make it to work wiht the snow is making me yummy hamburger soup.  i should post this in the comfort food thread.  i am already starting to salivate!   Smiley
