You gave us much excitement yesterday and last night IL! Between Amanda Noelle coming into the world and the storm from hell trying to blow it away - it was quite a day.

And doggone it....last night when I checked out, it was 10:13PM - right at the moment the angel was born. All we can do at this point is hope and pray you and MrIL made it to the hospital to snuggle and love that grandbaby!

Thank you all for your good wishes. For those of you who don't know the entire story, I'll try to catch you up on what happened yesterday. Here in central Indiana, we were having a huge winter storm with blowing and drifting snow. My daughter who was due on Feb. 20th called early yesterday morning to tell us her water had broken. The hospital where she was to deliver is 50 miles away from us and we could not make the trip due to the road conditions. She and her husband have (thank God) a four wheel drive vehicle, but we do not.
They arrived safely at the hospital and kept us informed by phone as the day went on. My husband and I were beside ourselves.............we wanted to be there for the birth of our first grandchild, but it seems that just wasn't in the cards. My other daughter and her boyfriend, who live much closer to the hospital than we do were able to make it, so at least they were there to give some moral support. When all was said and done Amanda Noelle arrived at 10:13 p.m. last night. She weighed 7 lbs. 8 ozs. and is 21 inches long.

Mr. Irish and I made the trip to Indianapolis this morning and met our granddaughter. She is beautiful. I spent a lot of time today just holding her and staring into that wonderful tiny face. Mr. Irish claims she is the most beautiful baby he has ever seen (spoken like a true grandfather).

The topping on the cake would have been that you could have been present for the birth. Well, that wasn't to be in the cards for meany Mother Nature. But you got your grandbaby in the end. :angel:
