Thanks dobie...I'm afraid not too many people are taking any of these issues too seriously.

I think it's not necessarily that people don't take it seriously.  I suspect most people are similar to myself, where I am of two minds about it.  I haven't fully made up my mind about the war.  I see both sides and I'm still considering where I stand on the issue.

I signed it - in the comments section I gave my views about war and the circumstances when  I think another country should be invaded.  I used the petition to express my personal views in greater detail.  I welcomed the opportunity to give my views to the UN Security Council.

As I surfed several sites yesterday where this petition was put forth for posters to peruse and sign (or not), it appeared to me the general populous was more complacent than not.  Mostly, they went gaily on their way, posting in threads and mostly ignoring the petition.

That worries and saddens me to say the least.  Thank you addams, for presenting the petition here.  Thank you very much. Tongue

Wingsy, I think Rhune is right - a lot of people are just not sure about it. The thought I'm hearing a lot (in RL) is that we didn't think BinLaden could possibly do the amount of damage he did do, not in a million years. But people would have been upset if we had gone after him before the 9/11 events and would have said many of the same things people are saying now. So they're on the fence about this one.

Another thing you might not have considered... people may have signed it and just opted not to post about it. Some boards enjoy heavy debate that might lead to anger (politics! LOL) and others don't want to go there openly. It doesn't mean they don't care tho.

Thanks Belle.  I truly didn't mean that I didn't think people don't care.  I just think that we've had so much turmoil over the last few years, that perhaps folks have a built-in shield.  And because of that maybe complacency has set in.

I've never been much for signing petitions  *ducks*  but something about this one got my attention.

The thought of WAR makes me so  Angry.  It is so sad  Cry to think there is no other way than to send our husbands, sons, brothers, dads, and friends to fight on foreign soil.  However, it appears this is to come and soon, and there is no alternative to stop this madman..

Read what he has to say in two different articles, one  to the News Media and to the (as he calls them), the Hollywood Bunch.  Very interesting and thought provoking.

I too have opted to hang on to my opinion for a little while longer.  I just don't have enough of the facts to base a good one...pro or con.  The thought of war sickens me, but sometimes it's the only way to protect what's ours.  I may feel entirely differently in another week.  For the time being, I wish we could just hold on to our horses, and not be in any big hurry to do anything!
