With her kidnapping odyssey behind her, ELIZABETH SMART spent her first weekend in nine months reunited with her happy family -- parents LOIS and ED, sister MARY KATHERINE, and brothers CHARLES, ANDREW, EDWARD and WILLIAM. Elizabeth is reportedly readjusting easily to life with her family.
 
On Friday, friends and loved-ones held a massive celebration for the safely-returned girl at Liberty Park in Salt Lake City, the same location where supporters stood with candles and prayed for Elizabeth nine months ago.  
 
JOHN WALSH, whose "America's Most Wanted" television program was a key influence in Elizabeth's return, spoke at the event. "In all these times of such bad news, this country needed some good news," he said. "To know what a loving caring family, and that they were never going to give up, it was so important; I had to come here. I had to come and see this family, and I had to celebrate for myself."
 
Elizabeth was found alive and reportedly well last Wednesday afternoon in a nearby suburb. According to Sandy City Police, two separate women called in and said they thought they had spotted a drifter who had once done work on the Smart's home, EMMANUEL, a.k.a. BRIAN DAVID MITCHELL. Police pulled over Mitchell's car and found the missing 15-year-old girl, who was reportedly wearing a wig and veil.  
 
Elizabeth was abducted at knifepoint from her family's Salt Lake City home on June 5, 2002, while her family slept. Her nine-year-old sister was in the bedroom and witnessed the abduction. Her story was featured on "America's Most Wanted," with thousands of subsequent leads phoned in, and last month her parents announced a new reward for information and asked for help in their search for "Emmanuel."  
 
One of the most famous kidnapping victims in U.S. history, PATRICIA HEARST, explained to CNN's LARRY KING last week what sort of trauma Elizabeth may have endured. "You don't feel safe," Hearst explained. "You think that you will be killed if you reach out to get help. You believe your family will be killed. You're not even thinking about trying to get help anymore." Hearst also said she would be surprised if Elizabeth ever felt completely safe again. Authorities say Elizabeth most likely suffered from Stockholm Syndrome, a condition where victims identify with their captors. Patricia also claims to have undergone this kind of brainwashing and thinks Eizabeth's parents should continue to shield her from the media.
