Thunder

It has been raining NON-STOP here.  I thought it would never end.  Yesterday we had thunder and lightening that came suddenly and my dog was outside.  We rushed to get her inside, and she was petrified.  She jumped up in my lap and practically wrapped herself around my neck.

My parents had a dog that was in the garage one night during a thunderstorm and chewed off the entire door frame trying to get into the house.  (P.S.  My mom never got a dog again.   Grin )

Have you had similar experiences with animals (or people!) and storms?

Our cat "takes cover" under the kitchen table when it thunders.  She sometimes hears it coming before we do and we'll see her under the table, then a few minutes later we'll begin to hear the approaching storm.

Isn't that so intiguing how perceptive they are.  I always feel so good about having my dog for protection too.  She can hear someone walking by the house when there's no audible noise that the humans inside can hear.

Here's my baby the same day:

She usually wouldn't tolerate this wrap up stuff my son does, but she was more than happy to go along with it that day. Smiley

It's interesting that she's in a leopard print and her eyes have an almost feline look to them in that picture.  Combined with all the colors, it makes her look quite exotic!  :gorgeous:

She's a darlin', GNS.  I think that pix is great - thanks for it and the story.

My mom's three cats would come running into the house as fast as a bolt of lightning when storms started up.  They had a lovely sunroom attached to the house so I cut a little hole in one of the slider's screens so they could have quick access.  When the pyrotechnic's were especially severe - they would sit and howl, begging entrance into the familyroom so they could dash in and hide under the beds.

We always knew when the worst of the storm was passing because they'd all come out, yawning and stretching, as though nothing had disturbed them.  I miss those precious pets more than I can say.
