I'm experiencing shellshock!

I have been absent lately, because of our move.  My last couple of weeks have been absolute hell.
It all started when the new owners of my farm arrived on the scene from Colorado.  They showed up a week or so before the closing date with a U-haul truck full of "stuff".  They had asked us ahead of time if it would be o.k. to store it in our carport until they could move in.  Well, my "devil" dogs would probably have eaten anything they left out there, so I very nicely emptied 2 bedrooms and let them put their stuff in there.  Big Mistake!  Every morning they would show up at my house at daybreak, ready to work.  They would get us up, either by knocking, or coming on in, if the door happened to not be locked.  I tend to wear my nightgown while cooking breakfast, so this wasn't my idea of good.
Before I go any further, let me give you some information about the buyers....They are Vietnamese, some speak english much better than the others.  Right now there are 4 men here, and the women plan to come down in 2 months.  So far, all of my dealings have been with the men.
Now, back to my story......One day, I was washing dishes, and in came 2 of the men (they do not knock).  They went into one of the bedrooms where they are storing things, came out with a kettle, filled it up at the sink with water, and proceeded to cook some kind of noodles (sort fo like Ramen noodles).  This little dude was using my spoons, spices, asking me where I kept my bowls, and my lemons or limes.  I have to tell you, I was in some kind of shock, I couldn't believe his audacity!
A couple of days later, we finalized the deal, I was supposed to have had 7 days to vacate my house, but I managed to do it in 3.  I could not stand having them come and go whenever it pleased them.
Now.....We have rented a 3 bedroom apartment.  This is the first time we have lived in a town or been renters, much less in an apartment.  It's certainly been a learning experience.  It's great being able to call the management and have them fix problems.  It's also great having no yard to take care of.  That's where the greats end.  It's awful hearing people coming and going outside of your door,  Banging the wall on the other side of us, and yelling after midnight.
Our first lesson here was when we drove up with a truck loaded with our possessions.  We saw people looking out their blinds at us, all of the parking spaces near our stairs were blocked by cars, we later found out that they belonged to the turds that were watching us try to figure out just how the heck we were gonna get to those stairs.  Next, there were 2 hefty teenage girls who had parked their butts on the bottom two steps, we asked them to excuse us...they only leaned sideways.  I can tell you, if I had caught my daughter doing that to someone, I would smacked her.  We finally managed to haul all of our things up here.  Mack and I only threatened to kill each other a time or two, and thankfully we are both still alive and healthy.  My latest horror here, was yesterday,  a girl backed into my car.  I didn't see it happen, but the people below me did, and they came up to tell me.  The damage isn't very bad, and my bumpers have to be replaced anyway because of my devil dogs; but I was very angry when I heard that they saw her laughing about hitting my car. Angry  Mack and I decided that the best thing to do was to let the little (I had better not say it), know that she had been seen, and drop the whole thing.  We still have at least another month here, and a lot worse could happen.
That's been my life for the last 2 weeks, I sure hope y'all are having a better time.

oh chick I have been thinking of you and wondering what was up.  I never imagined - never.

You are so right to be outraged - what decent folks you are.   I know you will survive until you are into your new place.

Meanwhile - hang in there.  I know you will look back at this and shake your head, maybe even laugh, but right now I pray that you 'survive' it.

Thank goodness your new car did not have more damage than to the bumpers.  I nearly fainted when I read that someone backed into your car.

You definitely are living in a different lane of life right now.

BIG HUGS to you and your husband and the kids. Hope all are well.  What do they think of all this?  :bighug:

That sucks...you're kinder than me, I wouldn't let her get off that easy.  We had crappy noisy neighbors in my last place and the aprt. people wouldn't do anything about it.  So, we had to resort to calling the police each time. We made it clear we weren't going to put up with it, even calling the police *4 times* one day.  They finally got the message and stopped.  We wrote a complaint to them about it and made copies for ourselves and the apartment people, and made it clear everyone had been copied.  People don't like the threat of a lawsuit.. it makes a lot of bullies back down.

This is so awful!! I am sorry to hear you are going through all of this.
I too had a horrible experience when I finally ditched the roommate and moved on my own to another town. I could only afford an apartment in a building that had recently had fire damage and was still being cleaned. Slowly, the owner began letting people on welfare into the building to the point that it was all young kids who didn't work. The fighting and beating up of each other was awful. I was on a first name basis with the cops at that time. The quick response of the cops and the protection from a man who was in my life at the time was the only thing that got me through it. There was one time that a guy slammed his girlfriend into the building outside my window so hard that he rocked the building. This complex held well over 40 apartments so it was pretty solid. I thought for sure he had killed her but she was so stoned she didn't even know he had done it. I stayed 2 years in that hell hole before I found the place I am in. A nice dead end street in a pretty well quiet neighborhood is so heaven compared to all that. Sooooo hang in there and just keep in mind that soon you will have peace.

Oh chickmama

What an experience!  I don't blame you for clearing out of the farm that quickly.  Though apartment living seems just as crazy!  At least your time there is short!

Good luck!

Good Lord CM.  I posted a couple of weeks ago about where were you and what was happening.  I was feeling something wasn't going well.  I wish I had been wrong.

You didn't mention where your pups (lol) are.  Are you boarding them - or what?

Oh gosh - I feel for you and hope you and Mack don't off each other before this is over (j/k).

Lots of love and prayers from me you to and yours.

Hey Country Girl!  Welcome to the beeeeeeg city!! Grin

I'll bet that it is quite an adjustment for a chickmama who is used to roaming the wide open spaces in her CTS to be crammed into an apartment in "town". Wink

A few observations that I want to make:

That CTS must have the most tasty bumpers (and also the unluckiest) in all of Texas! Grin

Now concerning the hitting of your car, here's the difference between a sweet innocent (cough) chicken mother and a wise ol' city boy.  I would have called the PO leece and when they got there I would have been holding muh neck while telling em' about this hit and run event where the dastardly bimbo neighbor backed into your car while you were asleep in the back seat!  I then would have retained the services of a lawyer and would be waiting for my settlement check from the other person's insurance company!!   Grin

Offering to "store" the goods of the new owners of the chicken nugget farm, and the subsquent bad aftertaste is an experience that you should file away in (what I call) the "No Good Deed Goes Unpunished" File.  Wink

Now, on to how you can keep the neighbors in line for the month that you will be there:  Remember how intimidated everyone felt when Matthew was sharpening the bayonet on Survivor?  Well, get hubby to sit outside on the steps, (preferrably just behind the two teenage slugs on the steps) and sharpen HIS bayonet while muttering about how "Friday the 13th" was the BEST movie he ever saw and he thinks Jason is his hero!   He could also mutter on about how this is his first apartment since "getting out"  and that the PO leece never will find that last neighbor of his.   I would be willing to bet that there will be no further "problems" from the neighbors. Wink

Now, I'm no Mz. Hornswogle, but if you take my advice chicky,  the time in the apartment will just FLY by and in no time flat, it will be time for chickmama to get the flock out of there!

Hell, matter of fact, if you take my advice, the neighbors might HELP you tote those things down the steps to the truck when the time comes! :laff: :laff:

Poor chickmama!  How awful for you.  Here's wishing you smoother sailing from here.

And Bumper, :laff: LMAO.  I wish I had known you when we lived in a townhouse community.  Might not have had such neighbor probs. Grin

Wow!!  You might want to rent a wreck for the remainder of your time there.  Remeber, you can always pack up the family and go on an extended East Coast tour until it's time to move again.  Didn't someone mention he had TWO houses?

At least you can now call yourself a city girl. Roll Eyes

Hang in there.

Hmmmmmmm, . . .  nothing posted by the Chickmama since June 11th when they moved into that apartment.   One wonders if the shock of moving to town from the country was maybe too much for our Texas flock.  Or maybe it was just too much of a transition for a Chickenfarm Computer??
Say, . . . . You don't suppose that Chick and hubby actually took my advice do youHuh   Shocked Shocked Shocked

. . . . . Maybe we should start raising "Bail money" for the chickmama brood.   Grin
