What's that I smell?

The last couple of days out on the street I have seen folks (usually guys) walking past me and suddenly realized they are smoking a joint.  out in public.  Like a cigarette.  The first day I thought - goof.  
 
The second day I thought :hmm:
 
Then it struck me.
 
Canadian courts have struck down the criminal provisions for possession of small amounts of marijuana and the federal government is drafting a new law.
 
The police force in Toronto just announced that it is no longer going to enforce the criminal code provisions about possession of marijuana in amounts under so many grams (30?  1 oz?)
 
So suddenly there are all joints being smoked like cigarettes.  took about 2 days for this to occur.  
 
Of course all the usually no smoking provisions still apply.  Interesting days these are.

interesting addams....
 
this has been going on for years in bc...i grew up with the smell of marijuana in the kootenays.  now when i get a whiff, i think to myself "smells like home".  of course, this is the good stuff.  the stuff that is free in the dtes smells dirty and gross.  it is cheap and your noce can tell.  anyway, you can smell marijuana practically anywhere in vancouver and the kootenays.  especially after the compassion society opened up a few years ago.
 
and so i say "smells like home"...bizarre, huh?

chick i don't know all the details.  I don't even know if it's legal.  only that you no longer can get a criminal conviction for possession of a single joint.  
 
Personally I think an oz is too much - and right away it's changed the way the business district of downtown Toronto smells at times.  
 
It will be interesting to see where it settles.
