Nearly one year ago, a friend of mine told me about a friend of hers who's little girl was seriously ill. She asked me to go to a website that was set up to update the daily progress of this child. She wanted me to read the journal and asked me to sign the guestbook - and pray. The first entry was written by the mom on July 31, 2002. The mother, Jodi, describes herself as "feisty". I don't know where she gets her strength - actually, yes I do. The site is called Rachel's Road... and can be found here: http://www.caringbridge.org/mn/rachelhansen/index.htm Before I go on further - let me explain that this site is not a "pity party" kind of thing. It's uplifting for the reader and a strength-builder for the family (and friends). It is also very technical. No "sob story" this... Little Rachel Hansen was two years old when she was diagnosed with Eweings Sarcoma. This site is full of info and provides a description of this particular disease. This site is chock full of more than I can describe here. I would invite all of you to check it out and to please sign Rachel's guestbook. Well, this morning for the first time, I took a look at the the Home site - good grief - it's huge! It's called "Caring Bridge" - http://www.caringbridge.org/index.htm Duke added as one of three new CaringBridge sponsors... go to news releases As of June 19, 2003: Webpages created 10,330 Webpage visits 32,401,618 Guestbook entries: 1,398,670 I had visited only Rachel's site and had no idea of the scope. I wish - oh, how I wish - I had known about Caring Bridge when my father was so ill. The support there is phenomenal, as is the wealth of information. I hope some of you will check it out and mark it to your favs and go back often. You won't be sorry if you do!
