Interesting Tidbit of Info.....
 
  Google has implemented a new feature wherein you can type someone's
telephone number into the Google search bar, press [ENTER] and you will be
given the address and a map to their house.   Think about it   --  if a
child, single person, ANYONE gives out his/her phone number, someone can
actually now look it up to find out where he/she lives.   The safety issues
are obvious and alarming. This is not a hoax...both Yahoo and Mapquest
actually indicate a star for your home's location on your street.
 
 In order to test whether your phone number is mapped, go to www.google.com
and type your phone number in the search bar with dashes (i.e., XXX-XXX-XXX)
and press [ENTER].    NOTE: If your phone number is not publicly listed, you
should be fine.
 
  If you want to LOCK Google from divulging your private information, simply
click on the telephone icon next to your phone number. At the bottom of the
section on "Phone" you will see a link where you are allowed to REMOVE
yourself.
 
  I checked this out and found that it works as described. If you are at all
concerned about this you might want to try your numbers.

I havent tried it but it may only apply to "listed" numbers. That info you can get from your "White pages" if number is listed.

I was able to do what was described with my own phone number, and have also opted out of their listing.

My phone number is publicly listed and it didn't work for me.  I've had the number for 10 months.

It doesn't look all that up to date necessarily.  The address they had listed for me was an old one, fortunately.

I put my number in, and it came up blocked or whatever
 
but I put my moms in and the group homes I run and it gave me the names and the email addresses
 
talk about scary!

it doesn't seem to include canadian numbers yet...but this doesn't mean that it won't eventually.

I tried it and it lists the person who had the phone # before me and it also lists me.  I have had this number for about 2 years now.  You would never find my house from this map.  I do not have my first name (I have initial), nor my street address in the Phone Book and they are not listed through the google sight either.  This tells me anyone can get the same information from the phone book.
 
People have to be careful in how they list themselves in the phone book.
