Weekend Plans

Since I don't think I have really stated them clearly over here..this weekend is 4th of July for America...much like Canada day for the Canadians.

I never do much on the 4th of July but this year I have planned a special trip to celebrate my twin 13 year old neighbor boys' birthdays, Easter, Christmas and any
 other holiday (cept Halloween).

We will be leaving tomorrow late afternoon/early evening to go to Mom's in Vermont to drop off my dog Shadow. We will try to sleep there, then be on the road hopefully around 6am. We are heading to Bar Harbor Maine where we should arrive in plenty of time to set up our tent at the campground I picked out and still get to a Whales Only whale watch at 4pm. The ride is about 6 hours 30 minutes long.
Anyway..I'm sure there will be fireworks over the harbor when we return.  We will get up early the next day and do an all day Deep sea fishing trip. Then come back and do the camping thing and I want to show the boys Bar Harbor cause it is a truly beautiful place. Then up early the next day to break camp and make it on a whale watch/puffin watch trip before heading back to Vermont to get the dog and head back to NH. Anyone who wants to come is invited..just hurry up and get to either Vermont or NH by 7pm tomorrow nite...LOL

Anyone else have plans?

We took the whole week for vacation.  We left last Saturday and drove to Enfield, CT.  The next morning we went to the Dinosaur State Park (South of Hartford on I-91).  We all loved it.  Then we spent the rest of the day in the pool.

Next 2 days were Six Flags New England.  We have Season Passes for Six Flags Great Adventure so we get in for free.  I haven't been to this park since 1988 (It was "Riverside" back then).  I have to say joining the Six Flags family has helped it.  It is cleaner and bigger than we remembered it.

Tuesday night we headed north.  We drove up through VT (Again I-91) on our way to the Lakes Region in NH.  We have been here since.  Wednesday was spent at Newfound Lake.  We will go back there today.  My sister has a house in Danbury and my Mom has one in Alexandria so we are well covered up here.  Some of the Boston clan are heading up here today.

Saturday we are heading back to NJ.

My kids have been in water every day so far on this vacation.  I think they will grow gills by Saturday.

Those are my (our) 4th plans.

Happy Independence Day everyone!

Hi Reset!    Tongue  What a wonderful vacation!  Be safe!

In CT - ever hear of a little town called Darien?  My hubby and I lived "around the corner" from there in Rowayton in '64.  The countryside is so beautiful and charming.  It was my first time back east and I was quiet smitten with New England.

Happy Independance Day to you too!  Being with family is THE best.

When will they be old enough, Rhune?  When the youngest is out of diapers?  I can speak from experience when I say - don't wait too long.  We took Debbie to Disneyland before her 3rd b'day and she remembers that event to this day.  Steven wasn't yet two so he doesn't remember that.

But I remember her squeals of delight.  I wish I could travel back in time to that weekend.

My youngest is only 1 1/2.  I'd like him to at least be able to go without a nap before we try & do a day trip. Wink

Today is rather quiet for us.  We will be celebrating tomorrow.  As some of you know, Mr. Irish has been restoring a 1958 DeSoto for the past year.  It is finally finished and we will be driving it in our community's Haynes/Apperson Day parade tomorrow.  This is the day that our community celebrates our strong automotive heritage.  There will be antique cars, lots of Shriners, and marching bands...........should be lots of fun.  I've been practicing my "parade wave".
Tomorrow evening there will be an antique car show on the downtown square and that will be followed by a fireworks display.

On Sunday evening our family will be gathering at my brother's house for a birthday party to celebrate my mother's 86th birthday.

Have a great time celebrating this weekend.  I hope you are able to have enjoyable and pleasant family time.  Indeed I declare this pamper Irishlass weekend.
