Fantasy Career?

As kids we wished we were Policemen Firemen nurses etc. I was talking to my wife and I told her about two careers I had wished I had pursued more. So my question is this what are yours and what if anything did you do to pursue them mine are as follows

1. I wanted to be a DJ I even went as far as to create and record a fictious radio program which had several characters whose voices were all mine. At time I played these many tapes for my friends who said I had talent and that it was a skill to do voices and very diffcult to actually make then talk to each and even argue. But I never took any further than playing tapes for my friends

2. I wanted to write comic I even went as far as to create two diferent comic characters (superheroes) and of course Villians I drew and wrote stories (many) and although drawing was poor (I am no artist) I shared these comic with friends and again was surprised by the amount of good reviews my friends gave me especially for one hero who is very orignal and not like any other superhero. but again i never took it any further.

So have any of you stories like this perhaps its not too late for you pursue your dreams and your post on this topic might be read by someone who can help you. If not its ok I will enjoy reading your "Fantasy Careers"

Cool good topic!!!!!!

I always wanted to be an ATF special agent. I was always so intrigued by firearms, my dad used to take my shooting at a pistol range, and it was so much fun. It was just one of those things.

Well I have probably discussed mine before.

1. I wanted to be a teacher. When I was in graded school, I tutored my fellow students all the time. In 7th and 8th grade, my school decided to change the way things were done and no longer have one teacher for each grade. It was the first time they decided to have us switch from room to room and have the teachers specialize in a subject. The woman who was to teach us math decided that we could learn at our own pace. She gave us the books, told us where the book was that listed all our assignments, and where the folder was that held all the tests. The only thing she did was to grade everything as we turned it in. I went through the whole 7th grade math book before Christmas and through the 8th by the end of my 7th grade year. Unfortunately most everyone else was lost. So the following year I was promised to be taught algebra. It never happened..it was excuse after excuse. Meanwhile I had an hour every day to kill so I soon became the teacher. I taught everyone their 8th grade math that entire year while our teacher sat in the classroom and read. I knew I wanted to be a teacher for sure after that. When I graduated, we were all presented with little gifts based on what our peers thought we would be in life. I was given a ruler to keep the kids quiet in my classroom. It is a nice 18 inch ruler and I still love it and use it to this day. To go back to school now to get a teaching degree would be almost impossible. I have no time and no money and I can't even imagine starting over. Soooo, I am instead trying to begin a computer tutoring business cause that way I could do the best of both worlds..play with computers while teaching.

hmm.... me...
eversince childhood, i had the skill to draw and sketch and to have that fascination in arts and architecture.  Somehow, this my mom noticed it that she told me, that i would be a good architect one day, and since they i've wanted to be one, I used to love sketching a whole town, and even a big city with skyscrapers lots of buildings.. i drew it as if I was looking to the city from above it..  I also shared it with friends and they liked it....
but.. when college time came, I felt that I needed to be practical, coz i saw that it would be hard to be an architect here, and we had a business then that no one would managed, thats why i took a management course.. but then i moved to a majoring course in IT...
for now, my fantasy job would be a computer game programmer/analyst or someone connected to computer games.. (maybe if i get retrenched, i'll apply for it.. hehehe.. or maybe i'll start applying now....) Grin

Cool Cool Cool  When I played Cowboys & Indians with my cousins, I always was Dale Evans!

What was my fantasy career?  To be a singer & dancer, al la Debbie Reynolds.  My husband & I still sing together at functions and we go dancing.  That's as far as I got with that one.
Both daughters have teaching degrees, so they covered that  for both of us, but I never wanted to be a teacher anyway.  Too many unruly kids stress me!

As for the entertainment business, the youngest child has that covered for us as we have enjoyed his success over the past 16 years and still going.   In fact we'll visit with him this weekend.

Now all I want is to stay healthy, happy and live to be just a feisty little ole singin'/dancin' lady and growing  old with my  singin'/dancin' hunk of a husband! Kiss

As you may have seen in another post, when I was very little I thought I wanted to be a dentist.  My parents of course looooooved that idea.. heh  and were terribly heart broken when in 7th grade I moved on to wanting to be a Rock Star. Wink

I damaged my voice in college and had to give up singing, but I still sing to my kids, to the radio in the car, etc. Wink   I love watching American Idol because I still have that childhood fantasy of doing something like that.

Other than shooting... it would have to be the physical challenge. I was always one of those wake up at 5:00AM and go running for 5 miles people. When I wasn't running, I was lifting weights, riding my bike, or doing an exersize video if nothing else was available.

I even went down to the ATF office to see what it was all about... did you know that their special agents actually get paid to work out 2 hours twice a week! Seriously... why didn't I do that?  Undecided LOL
