although bicycles are prohibited on the grounds there will be a special bicycling group that are leaving city hall at noon and cycling to the event en masse including City Councillors. (oh I so wish I was doing that tomorrow)

I just wanted to say that I took myself, and I enjoyed myself immensely.  Great music, the Stones and AC/DC were amazing, and the whole vibe of the place was awesome.  It seemed like there was no animosity anywhere, except maybe a little for Justin Timberlake, who I thought did pretty well for himself, getting to duet with Mick Jagger, but some didn't obviously didn't agree with him being there, as many assume he "likes boys," as one sign read so poignantly.  But hey, what can you do.  And even though they came under heavy criticism about a huge quantity of things, I must say that I found the whole event quite well organized, and I have to applaud the organizers for putting such a huge concert together in such a short time.  I think it was probably the best twenty bucks I ever spent.

johnny - that's so cool you went.  Thanks for letting us know what it was like.  It looked amazing.  I haven't read the papers yet this morning.

So Mick did some duets.  cool

Were there any surprises?  Any groups or combinations of groups you were not expecting?

How long did it take you to get home last night?

I am so proud of this city and country that we could organize a concert for 400,000 plus people in just 7 weeks and it could be so much fun and still safe.

Just so proud.

I only started watching the music, (and removed myself from the beer tents) at around five, so I caught some of Blue Rodeo, and then everybody after them, so I'm not sure about how the earlier acts were.  The only combinations I saw were Justin Timberlake and the Stones doing 'Miss You', and the two guitarists from AC/DC coming on and 'jamming' with the Rolling Stones for a song.  I know some people were quite sure that Bono from U2, and Paul McCartney were going to show up, but there were no surprise guests.

I started to pack up right when the Stones came out for their encore, and I just beat the rush for the gates.  I live about an hour away anyways, so I got home around 2 a.m.  I was really surprised that the subways weren't as jammed as the authorities said they would be.  I think that what they were saying about the long wait to get home frightened a lot of people into leaving early, especially ones with younger kids.

I couldn't believe how smoothly everything went off.  Apart from a few cases of heat stroke, (and when you're standing on concrete in the hot sun all day, I guess a few are to be expected) there seemed to be no problem.  I couldn't agree with you more, addams, about how proud we should all be about how this city pulled itself together, and cranked out such an awesome day in such a short time.  I'm glad I got to be a part of it.
