If you click on the amber alert ticker after it's not yellow anymore, and go to their website, then on the right hand side of the page you can see a link to past alerts and click on names and see if they were found or not.  This page doesnt' seem to give much of the gory details either good or bad, just an informational bit about they are missing, and if anyone was killed, etc. and then if they are found safely or not.  If you want more, which sometimes I know I do, I usually look up the child's name and do a google on them, or the name of the kidnapper and you can get more details off some web pages for newspapers and such.

An amber alert is an alert that goes out nation wide when a child is kidnapped or missing and presumed in danger.  The alert was put in place nation-wide (and in canada) to just spread the word as far as possible and as quickly as possible to try & help bring these children home safe again.

Origin of the Amber Plan
 
The AMBER Plan was created in 1996 as a powerful legacy to 9-year-old Amber Hagerman, a bright little girl who was kidnapped and brutally murdered while riding her bicycle in Arlington, Texas. The tragedy shocked and outraged the entire community. Residents contacted radio stations in the Dallas area and suggested they broadcast special “alerts” over the airwaves so that they could help prevent such incidents in the future.
