What were we talking about in The Grapevine one year ago?  What was happening in our lives?

my mom returns from the uk today and the poodle must go away!

sniff, sniff, choke, choke frosty will have to go minister to her as she will be grieving the loss of her no-no (her first grandchild).

i already miss my dog already!

the day  finally came, my doggiebear  just left with his mommybear!

i have my roomie's pug on my lap and a fudgecicle in my mouth to help relieve my grief!
...

i am in the process of developing a set of pug emoticards...i think they might have a chance too.  i am going to paper ya tomorrow to pick up some paper and envelopes tomorrow.  the pictures are in black and white of the pug and poo.  i even have a pride pug card as we went to the pride parade on sunday (160,000 people ~ vancouver's largest!).  it is quite cute.  i even have three places already where they will sell!

give me a day or two to post them....

ah yes...the loss of the poo.  even though, i have seen him plenty this past year what with moving up north for the winter and my little summer holiday, he will be moving back in with me in less than a month when my mom goes back to the uk for the birth of her second grandbaby!

and a year has already gone by of card designing and making.   Shocked

so much has changed in this past year...thanks for reminding me wings!   Kiss

We dropped our darling daughter off for her first day at "big school" today.  Yesterday was her last day at "day care" after being there for just over 4 years.

Our "junior kindergarten" is the same as "pre-K" in the USA (as I understand it).  We also have Senior Kindergarten and then grade 1 etc.  Must be 4 years old in the Calendar year to start JK (as it's most often referred to).

and wednesday will be starting senior kindergarten shortly!

oh my - I am nearly crying thinking about this last year.

thanks for the memories.  How sweet.

you should have seen how beautiful our daughter was playing her little cello at camp this week.  She had a solo recital and a big final recital with all the big kids.  She was in the front row centre and waved to us (oh about a dozen times) as well as spelling I heart U with her hand in the air and also mouthing the words I love you.

She wore a black sleeveless dress with red shoes and white frilly socks.  Her hair was tied back in a pony tail with two red hair clips at the sides.

SK (as we affectionately call it) is the same as Kindergarten in the USA.  JK (junior kindergarten) is preschool in the USA I believe.

JK and SK are not mandatory.  Only grade 1 is mandatory.  But most all children go to SK and JK.

If you turn 4 in the calendar year then you are eligible to attend JK.

If you turn 5 in the calendar year then you are eligible to attend SK.

Normally they are only half days (either mornings or afternoons) but our daughter is in an extended programme because my husband and I both work full time.

ok, so we have pre K which is your JK

and then we have plain ol' kindergarten which is your SK

our kindergarten is only 1/2 days as well.  Now to throw a little mix into it, we also have pre 1st  Shocked  which is basically to help those who might need just a bit more time before heading into 1st grade.  However, kindergarten here is mandatory, at least it is as far as I am aware.

we don't have pre-1st.   Also some kids are pretty young here when they start school because even if you turn 4 on December 31st you can start JK in September.

Now, this is just what I wanted - a thread that would take us "back" and stir up old memories.  Some are good, some are bad, but most of us have learned from both.

One year ago today, I was attending to the daily needs of my 2 month old grandson.  By then, we had realized his wailing was due to colic - and we learned not much can be done to alleviate it.  Swaddling, rocking, etc., was the only thing that helped.

He was smiling by then - stealing our hearts, bit by bit.

......and I can honestly say how great it was to sleep in my own bed in November.  It was wonderful being grandma but riding back and forth between the two residences wasn't the worst of times.
