TODAY begins the 6th "BRRR" month....

I noticed there have been no posts in The Grapevine yet today.  Then it dawned on moi that with today being the last day of August (and Labour Day weekend) and tomorrow is September 1st - the months with a "ber" or "r's" are upon us.

I'm already beginning to see the trees turning a bit too.  The Canadian geese began "practicing" a couple of weeks ago.  My son will get a kick out of that.   Can you believe summer has come and gone so quickly?

It's really starting to cool down out west here mz...there's been frost up north already, and ours is not far behind i'm thinking...but the 'brr months always meant the start of new things for me...esp with school...I guess it's like the (false) beginning of a new year in some ways.

am I the only one here who actually likes the "ber" months?  Fall is my favorite time of year.  Everything looks beautiful when the leaves change.  Course come spring I am more than ready for that too  Cheesy

I will admit that I am a big fan of the ber months. Smiley  I always enjoyed the fall and going back to shcool after the break.  I'm a big fan of fresh starts, and making fresh starts for yourself in life, and that break and then going back always seemed like the time to make a fresh start, or a time to be adventuresome and try something new, meet new people.  Plus, I always liked the cooling down weather.

fall is definitely my favorite time of the year. I love everything about it..the cool days, crisp air nites, changing leaves, all the fall decorations for the house (like I have time to do that anymore...   Roll Eyes  ) and of course Halloween which is my favorite Holiday. Unfortunately these days it means working 2 jobs so I don't get to enjoy going for nice walks in the cool nite air sadly but I still do love fall very much.

FALL, what is FALL?  We are in TEXAS and it stays hot until December or even then  Cry.  We go straight from summer to a bit of winter, that is, unless we finally do have a cold one, like '89, and it was 9 below, even froze up the water line to the icemaker!
Fall air at a football game is nice, it just doesn't last long enough to get out much fall decorations.

You say it was 9 below Luci?  May I ask if you mean 9 below freezing?

wow... yeah... we are now in the BRR  months... hmm... well we are ahead of you guys anyways being in the east... and BER months means (in the Philippines) that Christmas is just around the corner... yippeee!!!

Christmas is celebrated here for a very long period... starting the Ber months... you can hear carols as early as now.. and some may even begin setting up their Christmas decors...and Christmas Bazaars will appear soon Grin  and also the cold months are nearing Grin

well, we don't have winter here, being near the equator but it would get colder by November.. hmmm... Grin

OK Ya'll, 9 below sure does mean zero.  ....and we sure won't be wearing shorts then!  Speaking of Christmas, I work 2 days a week and we are  getting the store decorated  for Christmas!  For it is just around the corner, whether we want it to be or not, so start shopping and you'll be finished by December 24.  Brrrrr!

:laff:  Red - do people leave their Christmas lights up all year where you are?  They do here but I think it's probably because it would be a tad dangerous to be doing that in late Nov. or early Dec.

Luci - here in (mostly) Canada - they don't use Fahrenheit - so it's Centigrade.  When it's 32F, it's also 0C.  Where you live, systems (water freezing) would naturally fail.  I'm not sure how deep water lines are planted here but it's considerably well below the frostline.

Happy SeptemBERRR 1st Everyone

Mz...Most people do yes...the condo where my parents live they have to be down before Feb. which causes some not ot put up lights at all Sad I'm thankful that the lights usually go on end of Nov. and stay until Feb. b/c otherwise it's so darn dark by 4pm that you end up tired all day...at least the lights add some color and life to the night!

luci...the water line to the icemaker? care to explain that one? I'm confused lol
