A little something for Bumper
« on: Sep 4th, 2003, 10:39pm »
Quote Quote Modify Modify

I always think of Bumper as a hard to buy for man.  A man who has all he needs but still enjoys that little something extra.

Well if Mrs. Bumper is looking for that special present maybe she should consider this, a truly amphibian car that will switch from roads to rivers in  mere seconds.  It's a James Bond dream,

The sticker price is merely 235,000 (those are US dollars BTW) and the only catch is that it doesn't have any doors for that price! LOL (doors leak)

Read more here http://www.cnn.com/2003/TECH/ptech/09/04/amphibious.car.ap/index.html

(and as a patent agent I enjoyed learning about its 60 patents)

Smiley PERFECTO!  Ohhh Addams - I can see him now - buzzing around the water at his lakehouse.  What colour for him - a manly cobalt blue or fire engine red?

Awwww, in true James Bond style, cobalt blue for sure.  After all, he is a manly man!   We saw the commercial, what a car!
If this is too expensive, golf balls are always an option!  Mr L has more balls than any man I've ever known!  Golf balls, that is, for a golfer CANNOT be without lots of balls! :golf: :golf:

Thanks Addams for that great gift idea.  Unfortunately, Mrs. Bumper about choked when she heard the price so I don't think this new "ride" is in my future.   Wink

Mrs. Bumper agrees with you that it's a little challenging to buy for me (other than golf shirts and golf balls), but she is pretty savy on picking up hints and ideas on what I like (or need around the house).  Most times she is able to pleasantly surprise me but there have been a few well-intended gifts over the years that I just had to take back.  The one that immediately comes to mind is the yellow and white FRINGED canopy to fit on the riding mower so I wouldn't get sunburned on grass cutting detail.  Cheesy
Sorry, but this "manly man" just decided that he would rather wear a cap rather than be seen riding around the yard with a FRINGED top, lawn mower!!    Grin
I mean, Hell, what would the guys down at the Manly Man Club say!! Grin

You know I think I can understand Mrs. Bumper's concerns.  For goodness sake for all that money and you don't even get a roof or doors that open.

She must have felt insipired when she thought of the riding mower fringed canopy.  I am sure it was all in your best interests _ still I understand how that would not go around well at the manly man club.  I suspect that was why she didn't pick pink.  (I love the pink ones myself)

Wooo Hooo  Cool  That sounds like a real spiffy idea!  We can dust off and use that account that Addams set up a while back to collect online funds!! Wink  PLENTY of room in that one for 235K. Grin
 :wink3:

(Sorry addams, I just couldn't resist the inside joke ) :laff: :laff: :laff:

Now if you will excuse me, I have to go make room in the garage. . . . . .  Grin

A pink canopy with fringer Mmmm. L would agree that is something I would certainly do and he would certainly reject!  One can never go wrong with a new golf shirt, shorts or MORE golf balls!

Say, when IS your birthday anyway  Huh

Make it a Fire Engine Red one!  That way I could tool around the lake and if I threw a fire extinguisher in the back seat, I could say it's a quick response, water-based Fire Boat!  (I think I see real tax advantages here all of a sudden.)  Grin

Hmmmm, this has gotten me to thinking. . . . I wonder if there's some Federal Grant money available for a new boathouse to house this "Rapid Lake Response Emergency Fire boat/vehicle"?

Hmmmmmmm. . .  Wink
