Tracking Hurricane Isabel

here is the Canadian tracking centre I am watching these days http://www.ns.ec.gc.ca/weather/hurricane/cbulletin.html

Everyone who lives in the path of this storm is in my prayers and I pray that it stays a category 2.  Current satellite images are suggesting it may deepen further as it approaches land.

Please be safe everyone and be careful.

in 24 hours from now (by Friday morning) we will be feeling the effects here in Toronto.

yikes looks like Kenora got 93 mm of rain last night and that is now tracking with rain warnings from Western Ontario into eastern ontario.  At the same time we have isabel heading for us and the two fronts are going to meet somewhere around Subury it looks like.  That will add rain to rain.  Looks like a wet weekend along the line from Sudbury to James bay

On Hurricanes:

Yikes!!   Batten down the hatches matey!

The ol' Bump is as ready as he's gonna' get.  Guess we'll know in about 24 hrs if it was enough.

I'll let you know how it turns out, provided we still have power after this thing goes through.

As for Survivor, I have my battery powered TV and if the car survives, I'll not miss the first episode!!

Lawsy Bumps!  I've/We've been worrying my head off about you and then I found this post in your "Wisdoms" thread.    Whew!  And is your lakehouse ok too?

I'm still praying that  :tongue2: Isabel :tongue2: will blow herself out before she does too much damage.  We can't have her ruining Bumps  :golf: greens.

she's arrived:

the following is from cnn.com

Tropical storm warnings stretch to New York City, the Hamptons
Thursday, September 18, 2003 Posted: 1:16 PM EDT (1716 GMT)

(CNN) -- Hurricane force wind gusts pounded parts of the North Carolina coast Thursday as Hurricane Isabel's strongest winds drove pelting rain and rising sea swells toward the mainland.

As some 300,000 homes in North Carolina and Virginia were reported to have lost power, escape routes from the Outer Bank islands were becoming impassable. Several highways and bridges were closed by the government and others were under water.

CNN's Kathleen Koch, stationed in Virginia Beach, reported that the end of the 16th Street pier fell into the water and what remains is being battered by high seas. Nearby, a home had its roof peeled off by the wind.

The National Hurricane Center said the eye of the hurricane had moved to a noontime EDT position 35 miles (56 kilometers) east of Cape Lookout, North Carolina.

The North Carolina Emergency Management Agency counted 27,000 homes without power in the Elizabeth City area alone.

Another 269,947 homes were in the dark in eastern Virginia, along with 3,558 houses around Richmond, according to the Virginia Emergency Management Agency.

At least three people were trapped in a car in Pea Island, North Carolina, after the road they were on became unpassable, Coast Guard Lt. Buddy Dye told CNN. He said the weather was too rough for rescue helicopters, but that personnel were trying to reach them.

she is definately arriving

we are not even directly along the coast, and it has not even entered PA and we are experiencing all kind of really strong winds and, as I am typing this, I hear that the rain is beginning.  May be off line for a few days, last time we were powerless for a few days after the storm like this (it was hurricane floydd in 1999).  We are not, as far as we can tell in a direct path though thankfully so we should only get the annoying bothers from this storm as opposed to the very dangerous, harmful ones.

My thoughts and prayers and with all who may experience the wrath of this storm.

Bumper, I especially hope all your lack of procrastination pays off!

we made it through pretty darn good.

We lost power, but it was already restored.  There are alot of trees down and some localized flash flooding, but fortunately nothing major.

I hope everyone else came out of it as well!

I am awaiting word from all in the path  Kiss

That's great azure.  A special report just now on TV states Isabel has been downgraded to a tropical storm - or as they put it "TS Isabel".

She's apparently slamming western PA and will be shufflin' off to Buffalo, NY later.
